freakshow12
Seeing as I now have 8 of these I figured I would try one out. I am combining some of my favorite mustang things and stuff I play with every day in 1:1. Anyway here is where I started It's mini tubbed with 325/50 15 drag radials. Stance will be much like above It will sit much like this car But it will be this color, calypso green. One of my favorite fox colors Here it is midway through paint One of my problems is wether or not to do the side trim black or body color you can see the 2 options in the photos I am painting both the cowl hood and a stock hood. The engine I'm putting in it is one near to my heart as I have 2 of them in 1:1. : ). Edited October 12, 2014 by freakshow12
slusher
That's a great color Fred. Both mustang pictures look good. Hard choice..

carcrazy19
I'm leaning towards the molding painted the body color. Looks like this is going to be a real nice build. Good job with the paint. Edited August 21, 2014 by carcrazy19
JTalmage
Go with the black side trim! Really breaks this car up and would make it look a little more realistic in my opinion.
Agent G
Go with the black side trim! Really breaks this car up and would make it look a little more realistic in my opinion. What he said. Normally I am a big fan of body color trim but I like the look of black side trim on this. G
freakshow12
Wow, thanks for all the interest guys! I am hoping to get the last of the clear on today. I am under the weather again so I will do my best. As for the trim, I am torn. The black looks good but to be correct it should be body color as calypso was only offered in 92/3 and on the LX the trim was body color in those years. I think we will revisit that after window trim is black
wayne swayze
Really nice colour! Also painted very well. I'm liking this Mustang for sure!
JTalmage
Idk... my friend has an all original 75,000 mile Calypso green coupe with black trim on the sides. The quarter window trim is even still mint!
freakshow12
Very early 92 maybe? I have never seen one with black except in pictures. About 90% of the calypso cars here are 4 bangers too. The next one is going to be a bone stock tropical yellow car but I will be using the corrected resin body on that one
511 nova
Those alumastars on the dark blue one look awesome on about any car. Does anyone make any like those?

I know its original minus exhaust, and a couple small touch ups. freaking clean car though.
freakshow12
Yup. Last 3 months of 91 calypso came on line with the black moldings. 92/3 were body colour. Now I guess it's just personal preference lol
crazyjim
Your choice on the trim. I think either will look good.

Devilsnake98
Love the color choice, if it were my build, I'd do the black belt moldings, that's just me. Either way I'm sure you'll knock it outta the park. Ps, you're not painting in the garage while that gt500 is in there are you? Lol just had to ask. Eye4Detail78
Devilsnake98, that was the first thing that came to my mind as well... no painting around the snakes in the garage. Coupe is looking really good so far! Nice paint and choice of color. This build will definitely be a nice one. Keep up the good work and look forward to more pics. I am building the same kit as a 93 Texas DPS car...fun kit!
freakshow12
Don't worry guys. No painting around the snakes. It was dark and I just wanted some better light for pics : ). Going with the black side trim on this as well. Been playing with the tubular k member as well. I should have room for the long tube headers that I have for my snakey power plant... Devilsnake98
Are you going to use gt500 running gear in this one?
kelson
I like the color choice ,where did you get the paint from? Edited August 22, 2014 by kelson
freakshow12
Yup. It will be getting Shelby guts. I have seen this swap in person and it's tricky, the kit is posing many of the same challenges so they got the engine bay scaled correctly lol. As for the paint, it's dupli color touch up paint in the factory calypso hue
