'56 Chevy... Ford Power!

Out of my build break, to start another dead-end project

I may finish this one just because I really feel it.

Don't want much scratchin' done on this, just weathering.

1956 Revell Del Ray.

Shaved the trim off one side, off the door on the other, and left "Rolet" on the left side.

Green door, white roof.... I know about the overspray, the mark on the right rear, and the shirt-mark in the roof. These will be covered up.

Ford V8 wheels, Ford engine (from a Fairlane, I believe,) and a Fleetline grille.

Dropped in the front with cheater Dunlops in the back.

So I've been fiddling around with this. Sanded the roof and the fender with splatter on it.

I put some license plates on one fender, like someone patched up a rust hole with em.

Ford logo on the trunk, as well, obviously crooked.

I'm going to have to either...

-roll the rear fenders for bigger tires

-jack up the rear end for bigger tires

-use thin tires.

I'm thinking I'll use thin tires, just because I really like Firestone Supremes. I'll have to replace the whole rearend anyways, because the stupid snap things that the inner wheel goes on broke off. They hold on to that retainer and never let go.

Rust and chrome started. Needs touch-up, but when doesn't it?

I'm going to drill a tiny bit into the starts of the rust marks and blackwash em for a little depth.

post-13841-0-37135200-1415775580_thumb.j The big rust mark in the lower left needs the most attention. Still, I'm going over all the rust (or most of it) with darker brown highlights and blackwash.

The only paints I've used so far for detailing.

I started with the plain plastic body and sprayed Krylon Royal Blue, I believe.

Then I masked off the door, which I painted Model Master Dark Green. Real nice paint.

The roof, then, was masked off. Sprayed with Wal-Mart Equipment Gray Primer, then with Rust-Oleum Semi-Gloss White.

Thanks for looking!

This one's been sinking down into the thread

Anyways, I drilled the rustholes a little yesterday.

I was looking for a "birdshot" look. It's not exact, but it's good, I think.

I'll rust em up later.

Notice how I also drilled out the doorlock hole on the green door? The Model Master paint covered it up....
