afx
Nice work JC, it's looking great. Thank Gene. Love your new avatar. Funny story, I loved Batman as a kid. When I watched the show and there was a fight scene I would asked my mom or my older sisters to read the graphics for me. So there they were yelling "POW" or "KABLAM" while I acted out the fight scene. It must have been quite a sight.
Randy D
Hi JC, The exhaust system looks great!! Like your choice on the car you will replicate. Randy
mustang1989
That exhaust turned out really well JC and you're right that recess does get it up out of harms way. I also like the direction you are headed with this with the 80 RAC car.

afx
Anyone that has built this kit knows the tail lights fit about as good as the hood did from the beginning of this thread. They fit a bit better now.
Speedfreak
The reservoirs and tail lights look really good JC. What did you use for the reservoirs? Ya, I love The Dark Knight.

The reservoirs are included in the kit. I made the mounting bracket from .060 angle and some flat strip for the leg.

afx
I am familiar with Ford's Supervans. One of the versions was built on an F1 chassis IIRC. Cool stuff. Added the ignition pack. Edited February 23, 2015 by afx
Randy D
Hi JC, Excellent work !! The engine bay looks about ready for plumbing & wiring. Randy
afx
Hi JC, Excellent work !! The engine bay looks about ready for plumbing & wiring. Randy Thanks Randy. I have been trying to work out all the plumbing and wiring routes. I have started to add a few guides and brackets. You can see one for the oil lines (the silver wire) just below the ignition panel. I hope I can get them all connected when the time comes.
Johnny Mac
This is fantastic work, I thought I had put some effort into the Esci Merc 190, but this is incredible. Esci covered some great European vehicles that no one else moulded, but turning them into a presentable model takes real effort. Can't wait to see the finished article. I checked out your 190e-nice work. I have the Senna version of that kit that I hope to build at some point.

captjeffro26
I've been stalking this thread for a while now. Your work is amazing. I really like these old Escorts and wish we could have had them here in the states. Cant wait to see it finished.
afx
Thanks Shay & Jeff. I was determined to use the Reji phot-etch grill. The issue is the headlight opening is to small. This would have the headlight lens setting on top of the grill when it should be recessed back into the grill. After much tedious grinding you can see how much material needed to be removed, compare the top grill to the bottom one. I hope the results will be worth the effort. dublin boy
How did you file down the p/e without damaging it? I assume sanding the lens to fit wasn't going to work out properly.

I couldn't reduce the lens without making it unrealistically small. I ran this Dremel bit around inside the opening a few hundred times.
