Ford Escort RS1800

White or silver wheels, or even black would look better with a blue bodyshell.

Sorry Pat but I am bound by history. The rally car I am replicating ran with light blue wheels. The color has actually grown on me. And its not the first time I built a car with unusual colored wheels.

I suspect that started out as an AC Cobra from amt or Minicraft JC?

It looks like an original AC Ace with the big wire wheels, very nice.

Its a very early Cobra Shay, chassis CXS2026. Delivered the very first win for the Cobra. Here is a link with some more information and pictures.

I wish someone would make an AC Ace kit. I would love to build one.

How's it going JC?

Gene, I just wasn't happy with the paint finish. I sanded the whole body and re-sprayed it yesterday. The finish looks much more promising. I'll post some pictures soon.

Looking good JC. I always buy enough paint intending on sanding the firs coats down, The second session always comes out better. I learned that in wood shop in high school. The more coats sanded in between the smoother it gets. The reason is most primers are porous and soak up the first layers of paint, color coats seal the primer and you get smoother paint.

Thanks for the info Dale. I'm not a great painter but I am improving.

Any more progress on the Escort, JC?

A little Joseph.  I finally rubbed out the paint, its not perfect but I think it will work and am in the process of installing the glass.  I'll post some new photos soon.  Thanks again for the great Minilite wheels and tires!
