I work crimes against children, specifically child pornography from all over the United States. The job is rewarding, but can really get to you once in awhile. To relax I take a model to work and work on it over my lunch break, that is a great stress buster!!!! I can retire in less than two years and I hope to open a model museum/hangout. Nothing fancy as I am not rich, but maybe a place here in southern Idaho or Las Vegas (I want to move) where people can get together (free of charge) and lie to each other about models, enjoy a cup of coffee, enjoy the hobby and have a place to send old models instead of the dump. Think about it...what will your poor wife do with all of those models? I am not accepting cash donations.....so relax this is not a fishing trip for $$$$$$$! In my pre military wife life I was a Clinical Financial Councelor. I worked for the Vice Presidents office of University of Florida Physicians on the Traveling staff. I worked in 39 different clinics filing in when they had a staff shortage. I did anything from medical records, check in, check out, insurance verification, and coding and billing (basicaly a jack of all trades) I was Darn good and most clinics would request me by name (ok its been a while so i have to toot my own horn). Once I left there nobody wanted to hire someone as young as me who had as much experience (cause they would have to pay me more) so I started volunteering with Navy Marine Corps Relief Society as a financial councelor and budget planner. and I did that until I had David. Maybe it should have a photo included......you know, put names to faces.......yeah, you're right, maybe not.... I work as a factory hand. We make timber floor boards, or Manufactured Timber Flooring by BORAL It is classified as "Manufactured" because, unlike regular floorboards which are solid timber, ours go through a production line building them up from a veneer base, a composite core and a hardwood top layer. The hardwood top layer is just 4mm thick once all is processed. By doing this, we are helping to sustain our old hardwood forests because we're able to get six floor boards out of the timber generally required to make one floor board in the old manner..All our top layer timber is sourced from Native Australian timber plantations, which makes it kinda unique..we also Export around the World. BORAL also make solid flooring, but we think of ourselves as kinda special.... I'm still a ground level "feeder", though I do have my own section. We've just recently finished a new work station (area) for the making of our "sample" packs. I'm in charge/control over all the display packs which go out Nationally to all the Flooring Warehouses and display rooms. (I think there is still room to move up the chain.... ..) I've only been with them a couple of years, prior to that I had 30 years in retail selling/delivering electrical household items..I finally tired of "man handling" large refrigerators and washing machines up and down stairways...usually by myself.. Over tha years in my spare time I worked for and earned 3 degrees; AS Electronics Technology - 1977, AS Legal Assistant -2002, BA Political Science - 2005 and almost a BA Physics in 1999 (8 credit hours short)until I had a major burnout/blowout with a 6 Degree Physics Prof concerning why I needed to know how to calculate the relative Velocity/Mass of a dust mote in relation to my knee cap at any given instant in time......sheesh. Guess I just nevah learned how to keep my mouth shut.... Oh and besides my modeling hobby...paleontology, ancient history and the phisical universe are included in my list of hobbies....and the continuing education of my daughters. Worked in a collision shop, high end restoration shop, and now I work in the paint shop at Pierce Manufacturing where we make custom(not kustom) fire trucks. I also do a few commission builds and paint smaller things;motorcycles, gas pumps, mailboxes, what have you, in my one car garage, on the side. I am probably one of your customers too. I am a firefighter for San Antonio, Texas. I have been for 9 years, before that USMC for 10 1/2 years. Originally from Clearwater, Florida and worked for Subway there! One uniform to another! I write for car magazines, most currently Muscle Car Review, where I have the only recurring/monthly model car column in any of the former Petersen titles. I also do features, (wait til you Mopar types see what we found for the July issue!!!) and am branching out to other titles soon. I also have a small business doing pinstriping and trim work for car dealers. I've done that for a long time, have outlasted all my competition in the LA area but am now in the process of moving to Las Vegas. I've gotten a lot of new customers there, it's a cool town except for the 105 degrees the last two days I was there. I'll be there by July 15th, am already completely stoked about the change! Lots of good modellers there too! As an offshoot for the writing thing I have developed a screenplay and a tv franchise that I'm shopping around now. The original episode of 'C Street' is a treatment/alternate solution on the Mickey Thompson murder in 1988, with fictionalized characters and situations. Our goal is to sell it to one of the cable nets. These things take a long time normally, but the situation is worse now because of the aftermath of the writers' strike, nothing much is being produced or purchased now. Hurry up & wait! I do UNIX programming and Internet Protocol Telephone support for companies like Ford, American Red Cross and Kaiser Permanente.
