Freightliner COE + Texaco Tanker - AMT/Round2 reissues

Recommended Posts

Hi Modelers,

this is my first 1:25 plastic-kit since i stopped building Kits in the late 80s
a friend gave me the Freightliner Kit for christmas 2013 and that hooks me up
i'm now fully back into plastic
i realized fast: building big kits ist a different story than customizing 1:64 scale Die Cast

So started late December 2013 with the COE
i finished it in November 2014, including 2 Cars and the Tanker
I didn't like some things AMT made
so i had to change the things i didn't like
shortened the front axle, made a new exhaust and air-intake from aluminum tubing
changed the wheels to 5-spoke, removed chrome for a fleet-workhorse-look , i don't like chrome overloaded trucks
removed the problematic door steps an made the more primitive ones

the tanker: i removed the chrome and gave it a matt aluminum finish otherwise it's out of box

so for sure it's possible to build it better, but for the first one, im quite happy with it,

for the outside fotos, i caught the rare late autumn sun

enough words, pics:

Wuderschon! herr Boehm.

Stunning! your "one piece" cab work looks flawless, mild weathering in & out, + those IMC spokes, really stunning piece.

Same goes for your superb work on the good 'ol Fruehauf tanker, a real "toughy" to get right, again great workmanship.

Very nice top pictures...'70 "Interceptor" looks really nice too.
