Longbox55
That's actually not far from me. I'm not really familiar with Clinton Illinois, I've only been there once, but I do know they have a nuclear power plant there. Too much uranium in the drinking water, perhaps? purepmd
I think someone needs to explain the difference between 'can' and 'should' to this gentleman. Sad...that would have been a cool driver had it been left right side up.
Mike77
I saw that truck in person last fall here at our town's annual "Harvest Days" festival. It was pretty cool and it definitely makes you look twice. As for the nuclear plant, yes they have one and I worked at the Braidwood Nuclear Station for 17 years with no ill effects. I have 4 eyes and no children so I'm perfectly normal! I also lived in Danville for 10 years (1970-1980) which may explain a few things. (Just kidding Bill! )
Longbox55
No offence taken! You were here back when Danville was still a decent place to live. It's gone way downhill since.
Mike77
Yeah, I've heard that. Back then there was the GM Foundry, GE, Hyster, etc. Although I have to credit Danville for my interest in models...I used to walk to Kmart, Zayre, and Ayr-Way to buy truck kits for $2.97! cappy625
what happened to keeping the shiny side up and the greasy down? Edited February 8, 2015 by cappy625
Longbox55
Pretty much all of that is gone now. We still have Teepak and Quaker, though. K-Mart is the only one of the stores left, and they haven't had kits for years. We don't even have a good hobby shop locally since Black's hardware quit selling general merchandise, and Wilsons closed up. We had alocal pet and hobby store, but they out out of the hobby business, too. Last decent hobby store of any kind we had was a Hobby Lobby, they pulled out about 4 years ago. It was on the mall where Ayr-Way used to be. It's a Dunham Sports now. The closest hobby shop to Danville now is Slot &Wing over in Champaign. Modelcollector
Guys, the truck Rick used had been crashed and was beat up pretty good. He used what was good and built this unique ride. He has also built a large version of the Radio Flyer wagon.
kilrathy10
It actually looks pretty cool.....Now, as for "why", I couldn't tell you, but should he decide to sell it, I'm sure it would fetch a pretty penny....More than enough justification.......I'll bet Jay Leno would be interested.....
