farmallgray
What is the correct wheelbase for the Bj Mckay aerodyne? I'm going to restore the one I built as a kid. By eyeball it looks like around 180"-190" but I'd like to know for sure. Also I see a couple suppliers for replacement decals for this truck. Any recommendations on which ones are best? The engine is an 8V92? And should be painted silver?
Old Buckaroo
I built one a while back that still needs decals to be put on . (not my favorite pastime) I will pull it out and measure it tomorrow for you. Silver would be correct for the Detroit. The original truck had 400 Big Cam in it Edited February 11, 2015 by Old Buckaroo
farmallgray
You mean the real truck? Is the 400 big cam an 855 CI? I have several Cummins 6 cyl in my parts box. Do they all look about the same? The ones I have look the same as in the reissue K123. What trans did it have?
Force
After what I have found out the BJ truck had the standard 180 inch wheelbase. And yes the Cummins "big cam" NTC 400 is 855 CI, but the Cummins engine in the K123 is a NTA 370 wich looks slightly different than the NTC. You can use the NTC 475 Twin Turbo from the Revell AG Peterbilt 359 and KW K100 and skip one of the turbos and you will have a NTC 400, if you don't have that one you can use the NTC 350 from an AMT Peterbilt 359/White Road Boss and Western Star/Diamond REO and modify the aftercooler to look like the newer ones on the NTC 400. farmallgray
What would be the correct trans? I spent some time searching the web and I can't find any photos or anything in the engine. I found a few old threads where that had been photos but are now gone from their hosting site.
Old Buckaroo
What would be the correct trans? I would lean towards an Eaton , but it could of also been a Fuller. It is not an Allison though that comes wit the kit.
Force
I have seen somewhere that it was a 13 speed so I would go for a Fuller Roadranger. For engine pics just google for Cummis NTC 400 and you will find some. Edited February 14, 2015 by Force
