Twokidsnosleep
What an awesome piece of furniture !!! The front end is spectacular my friend, just spectacular
youngtiger1
Totally cool and a perfect fit to a model/work bench. There a guy at a slot care race store that builds custom cabinets for customers that are design for guys that play/build slot cars. He can design and build them for any type of modeling bench and I'm hoping to have him build me one before the years end. A bit expensive but worth the cost consider what you get. Great progress buddy!!
Belugawrx
Sooo ...had a couple of rain days ..= bench time I was able to spend some time on the tires .... 100 grit took it down pretty quick.. then 250g to smooth them out...(CAUTION!!! older Tamiya kits are much softer, thinner rubber!!) Used Craft Smart (Michaels(cdn sp)) acrylic paint to pick out the GYear . Then hit it with Testor's Dullcote spray,... Washed with vallejo 76.517 WASH for dark Grey,..Let dry ..rubbed off the excess, hit again with dullcoat,... And....... Daddy's got a new pair of shoes! Post race dirty shoes , but,.... Ya Sitting on all 4rs It was awesome to spend some time actually modelling again after a long ,.... busy month. Thanks for looking in... Q, C, + C's are welcome Cheers Edited June 3, 2015 by Belugawrx

Twokidsnosleep
Good to see you got some bench time and progress made It is hard slicing out hobby time in life, but especially as the weather improves Keep plugging away when you can, it is always interesting to see this build Love the custom tire sanding jig...that is right up my MacGyver alley Cheers, Scott
Belugawrx
Thanks Scott, I tend to McGyver quite a bit in modelling lol Forgot I had this HO scale chain link fence material So I took the under scoop part And gently rubbed the screen into the cavity Flattened out the edges Trimmed off the excess And installed over the intake trumpets A little tweeking and a strip of BMF,..and weathered they will look ok I think Thanks for looking in Q.C+C's welcome Cheers Edited July 17, 2015 by Belugawrx
Codi
Bruce, so good to see you back at it on this build. Love the new posts and progress. Your tire weathering skills are simply perfection. I swear I had to take 3 looks at em' to discern that they weren't the real thing. The best weathering of a tire I've ever seen, at least in our hobby. And the intake screens are of a similar quality. Now I remember WHY i always look forward to your posts. Cheers, Tim
Nacho Z
Glad to see you are back at it. I've been looking forward to seeing your progress. You did not disappoint!
Twokidsnosleep
Ahh you bring back some memories with this build now When I was a kid in grade 8, I remember cutting out the rear covers and putting in metal mesh for my 1/20 Tamiya I thought it was awesome. This kit, I need to get it into my stash again!!! I think I was following a magazine photo story on it. This was when I got hooked on F1 and Tamiya ....misty water-coloured-memories.........sing along, you know the words Edited June 12, 2015 by Twokidsnosleep

Belugawrx
Hey Scott you'll love that kit! Mike I applied a strip around the bottom as a cinch So, a couple of rain days Started on the body panels Much sanding, filling, sanding, ad nauseum... Got the wing dry fitted to check lengths of hoses and wires Now I can start on the paint,...as soon as I can find some Tamiya TS-55 and the gold... I also need to figure out an attachment method for those side pod panels, I need to squeeze them with about 10lbs pressure to get them to close up to the top panel.... Anyway building on Thanks for looking in Q,C+C's welcome Cheers
Codi
Bruce, just love that 2nd pic of the side profile of the car and of course, pic 4 of the rear / wing. That was always one of my favorite gran prix cars of the period. It just looked "right". And it was quick to boot. You're doing this build justice. I remember going to the gran prix in Montreal in the 70's on a few occasions and just had the time of my life. Cheers, Tim
Cato
Bruce, magnificent job. Don't rush a thing. Tim is right, one of the most beautiful F-1's ever - all business. The modern ones look like transformers next to this. They just don't have 'IT'. For that panel fit, don't leave things in tension. Sand away inner surfaces or detail if you have to. Consider making new ones from .005 ally or brass. If you get the relief, consider mini magnets to hold closure. Some are very powerful. Show us what you come up with. youngtiger1
Ah, totally cool tip on the HO scale chain link fence. I'm no race care expert but it looks very realistic to me.
Twokidsnosleep
Were the PE kits worth it??? Was disappointed with my F40/Testarossa stuff so a little gun-shy on pulling the trigger on PE that is twice as much as what I paid for the kit
