B_rad88 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 the title says it all. please i want to scratchbuild a set of header collectors! thank you every one for the help.
MikeMc Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 all the collector is ..is a tube....Are you trying to make the"bulges" where the tubes meet at the collector?
MikeMc Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 These were made from solder, some K&S tube covered in shrink tubing...I could of used some BMF around the tubes and collector for a chrome look by using a toothpick and gently pushing the foil around the "pipes" you can make the "bulge"
B_rad88 Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 yeah i am talking about the exuast tubes going into the collector.
torinobradley Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 These were made by using a piece of aluminum tubing big enough for the tubes to fit into and then crimping them between the tubes with an old, rounded screwdriver tip until it conformed with the tubes. These were on plastic tubes but I have used them on other material too.
RodBurNeR Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 try electrical heat "shrink" tubing. it comes in different sizes and when you put a little heat to it, it shrinks and conforms to whatever it's on.
B_rad88 Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 thanks for the ideas! that will help. i like the heat shrink tubes, are they paintable?
RodBurNeR Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 thanks for the ideas! that will help. i like the heat shrink tubes, are they paintable? yeah you can paint them, they are plastic.
RodBurNeR Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 some plastics aren't paintable! I know....it can't hurt to try it, up to you.
