  1. Hey John, that was International paper, late '80's. Looks like a little before your time!

Yeah most certain about that. i was curious about it because i grew up in mansfield, As well as most of my family and thought it was pretty neat that someone would mention such a small town as such here is all. The international paper plant closed in 2006 sadly.

  2. I find it funny, I ask if there was a new release date and then all the replays after that are, quality first, just because I asked about a release date, hmmm, I guess you guys thought my reply was implying to get it released quickly

I want quality too, but I like to plan ahead for the bigger purchases like semi truck kits, so its helpful to know about when kits are coming out

    Amen and Indeed.
  3. Okee dokee, here are the first pics from my build. On the front axle I went ahead and drilled holes thru them, cut he parts free and inserted .040 Evergreen Rod, did the same thing for the steering rod and now the front wheels can be turned. hopefully I can make the entire steering work thru the steering wheel. The bulkheads were cut to shape, inserts cut out with my Dremel tool to accept 24" lengths of Evergreen strip for support. The rear part of the trailer I cut bulkheads out in diminishing sizes, then glued them together and filled that with tamiya putty and sanded down to the correct shape as far as I could tell from pics of the real trailer. And I went ahead and cut the hood down to become the 281 hood. I will cut it out also for a butterfly hood.

I'm flipping back and forth from thec cab to the frame and I have to tell you, the instruction sheets from the 359 AMT/ERTL and the original T500 are totally different in the drawings. But I'll figure it all out eventually.

Lookin good so far! keep us posted?
  4. Well the only thing I really see different is the angle of the frame rails but I can handle that. Appreciate the answer John. :D In answer to Charles the hole on the right side of the frame in front lines up but the left doesn't. merely a matter of emlarging that hole a 'little'. the rest I can deal with.

And I will post 3 of the rigs I have built from scratch if I can find that forum. I like this site :)

John I have that resin 'Iron Horse' already. I'm going to do the 'cut and modify' a Pete 359 to make it a 281 like in the movie. there has to be something in my genes that just won't allow me to make a standard model out of the box. ;)

    Share some progress pics? :D
  5. That was the first truck kit I ever build back in the early 90's, and it was the worst truck kit I have ever built, so many poor fit problems, I certainly wouldn't spend $130 on another one ....

i normally don't purchase truck kits unless the name Italeri across the top of the box. I mostly find that RoG Kits to be innacurate and poorly manufactured due to overuse of tooling.

    Thanks for lookin'!

In a word NO, it has so many poor fit problems you'll be pulling your hair out !

  6. No I do not. Personally I have never been a big fan of any of the RoG kits, but I'm sure you'll get some feedback on the T 600

Can't say i blame ya' i purchased one of the 359 Kits and the build quality was poor, excessive flash, and a number of inaccuracies. i've heard several people mention the same things when talking about the RoG kits. Thanks for the input!

    Thanks for lookin'!

  7. Don't waste your time and money on the Marmon. It just might be the worst truck kit that RoG ever made. It's actually the 359 Pete with a different grille

It's alright i wasn't planning on it just thought i'd share it because i found it interesting. ^_^ also do you happen to know anything about the T-600 kit that RoG made? is it any good?

    Thanks for lookin'!

  8. I've had one of these in the stash that has actually had road time in the 1:1!! I have always planned on building like the 1:1 I drove, including the shortened side fairings and the 470 Series 60 under hood. Italeri did a nice job on the update to the 120, not simply repopping the FLC, including even correcting the air ride in the rear.

    :D
