  1. Hi this is Steven. I was looking at hanks trucks lunch at the overpass for inspiration and I found my next project. A freightliner pulling two flatbeds. Now my questions If the second flatbed trailers fifth wheel is mounted on the rear of the first trailers frame above the wheels is this a b train ? Also how long are these trailers typically ? It looks like Im going to be scratchbuilding most of the trailer. Any help will be appreciated.
  2. Hi My name is Steven from the U.S. You might want to look at a websight called kit form services they have alot of foreign conversions and accerssories the owner of the company is editor of a truck modeling magazine in Britain If you could get a hold of the old ITALERI accessories pack number 764 they had a 3 3/4 by 2 1/2 inch piece of checkerboard included. Just to let you know. Here in the U.S. our version of checkerboard is called diamond plate. It has a diffirent tread pattern on it. Good luck on you project
  3. Hi my name is Steven. I have been planning in my mind on making a 1/25 scale 3 or 4 bay fire station but the one I want to kinda base it on has brick on the lower portion of it. What is the best way of reproducing brick ? And now that I have put some of it on draft paper well its kinda HUGH What do you suggest I use for the base ? This is going to be my first diorama including a structure And I want to do it right. the building alone will be 24 by 18 inches. the base 4 feet by 4 feet. Im going to have to redo my hobby shelves to make room for it lol . Any help will be appreciated Steven.
  4. I like your booth. My first one I made was from info from a modeling book painting and finishing scale models It had a dayton industrial blower kinda loud lol. The booth was 3 feet by 12 inches and had plywood sides and back and a plexiglass top for light. I covered the inside of the plexiglass with clear cooking wrap so when the top got bad I just replaced the wrap. When I built mine I recieved 3 comments from a model builder friend who happens to be a fire captain He said just make sure the motor is out of the airstream and its vented properly. And can you make me one lol.
  5. Hi my name is Steven. On ebay right now there is a amt/ertl great dane box trailer it has the by me now option I think its around $20.00 plus shipping. This kit was rereleased recently so your local hobby store might be able to order you one. Italeri has a american dry van kit out but the trailers height is really noticably to short. When it comes to the flatbed The only four options I know of at this point. Watch for one on ebay with the buy now option. option two keep a eye out at swap meets . Option three See if someone in this forum has one to sell Option four Wait for the rerelease of the old 36 or 38 foot flat bed comes out and if you want longer buy two kits and splice them together.
  6. Hi my name is Steven. While at a local hobby store I was seriously thinking of buying the italeria volvo vn780 and 50 foot trailer package but after looking at the kit picture on the box I have a few questions first Is the actual trailer kits measurments right ? On the box The trailer doesnt look tall enought hooked to the volvo it seems to be atleast a quarter of a inch lower then the volvos airfoil. Question number two they say its a 50 foot trailer but is this the same kit as the 48 foot reefer trailer that came out a few years ago ? In your opinions are these kits both together worth $95.00 ?
  7. I am planning on rebuilding a old amt flatbed trailer to go with my snap peterbilt and would like to know what is the best way to make the plastic molded wood decking look like real wood ? I wish someone made a super thin vaneer I could use. Looking at the trailer now I remember when I built it about 30 years ago I hand brushed on a testors paint called wood . Any help will be appreciated .
  8. On tims webpage in January it menthioned hawk model company was going to reissue the dodge L 700 and one of the trailers. maybe tim can tell us when its due out ?
  9. Hi my name is steven Im new here. If your into 1960 semis IMC also produced a dodge l 700 they also produced a flatbed trailer and a box trailer All of these kits are great kits they are very easy to modify the flatbed for example can be built as a 20 footer or a 40 footer. the same goes for the box trailer.
