  1. That paint job on that car turned out fantastic Steve! That engine looks really good too! Where'd you source the blower belt from?
  2. He speaks the truth. Hands down best looking Dominators out there.
  3. Futureattaction offers these in a super detailed version but they are currently out of stock. Should hopefully have some more in fairly soon. http://futurattraction.com/8.html
  4. No worries guys. Interesting conversation going on while I'm working on my next update. Hopefully I can start slingin' some paint soon.
  5. Sorry Rich. I've just got the paint in the mail a few days ago and should start the painting process on mine soon so we'll see how close of a match it is.
  6. I did a little research on this color for my Maverick and came up with Tamiya TS-86 Pure Red. Here's the link Rich. Tell me what you think: https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=tamiya+pure+red&fr=yfp-t&imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbhc.com.au%2Fassets%2Ffull%2F75-T85086.jpg#id=4&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbhc.com.au%2Fassets%2Ffull%2F75-T85086.jpg&action=click
  7. That right there is one very nice build Steve. Along with a lot of others who have responded on here it's sad to hear that such a good builder like yourself is leaving the hobby. With that being said, I am a believer in never saying "never". One can never tell when life's road will lead them right back to a certain point. I left the hobby in my early twenties, figuring that I'd long outgrown it only to return after recovering from alcoholism two decades later to use it as a calming device and to keep my mind busy. I hope that whatever you do that you have a great time, kick back, take life in and enjoy it all.
  8. I couldn't have said that ANY better.
  9. I like that!!!! Is that the Revell Thunderbolt Fairlane chassis JC?
  10. You know....I should've noticed that about the fuel tank but somehow I didn't. lol. The only thing I know to do in an instance like that would be to cut both fuel tanks out and graph the Maverick fuel cell onto the Mustang chassis. Man...that....would be ALOT of work but it depends on just how accurate a builder wants to be. For me, mods that intense would also be accompanied by fuel lines, brake lines and all. Don't get me wrong I've been known to tackle such mods in the aircraft modeling world where historical accuracy seems to be paid a little more attention to. I will say that this is good information though. Thanks for bringing that to light Kurt.
  11. Progress looks good. You did about as well with that OOB instrument panel as a person could Kevin. Looks great !
  12. Here's a photo shot of mine after shortening the front subframe approximately 5/16" and cutting about 1/8" off of the rear of the chassis behind the fuel tank like John Pol was talking about. You've gotta shorten the chassis up front so it'll fit under the body nicely and to put the front wheels in the center of the front wheel opening.
  13. That's the one! Go for it!
  14. Another thing that this kit is totally lacking in is the proper engine bay. I turned to the 67 Mustang kit for this since it's a fairly close match. On the right is an OOB engine bay in my other Maverick. After some mods and some trimming I've got the initial fit obtained. It's workable and looks like it should do the trick after some more fancy footwork.
  15. Good progress so far Kevin. Glad you got the wash issues all sorted out.
  16. That's the one. With a couple of mods it works out great. First off its a little too long but by shortening it roughly 5/16" it fits great.
  17. Thanks for those shots JC! Hadn't found those yet.
  18. Initially I thought the same thing about the size. But the more I looked at the photo shots of the restored car the more they began to look the part. I'll be going with the restored car look so the Eagles are what I'll be going with( just really like the brutal look of it like that) BUT....I do have another Maverick that I'll be going period correct with so the tire diameter as well as the wheels will be more along those lines. Mike I do want to thank you for dropping in. I appreciate your comments.
  19. No problem Kevin. Glad I could help. Ok gang....I managed to get the wheels coated in Molotow and the tires all decaled and completed. I didn't use the front wheels with the Molotow on them in the following pictures because this stuff has a minimum cure out of 48 hours. The rears I could handle somewhat because of the dish in the wheels but here's where we're at right now with the wheels/ tires. and then I found my headers that are going to give me the perfect clearance. I just cut the flanges off of them and modified the header extensions on the Jo-Han headers to match up with the headers and we're all set. Another major hurdle of this build overcome.
  20. Thanks Francis. Really appreciate the comments and thanks for tagging along. Thank Carl. Good to see you buddy.
  21. Thanks Kevin. It came from a Slixx Decal Set. Part number is OFMS-8004. Here's the link: http://slixx.com/8004.htm?id=4907
  22. Excellent paint, decaling and detailing. Top notch work!!
  23. Been working on this thing all week long. Starting to get googly eyed.... Oil filter, starter, bellhousing and transmission have all been painted up and installed. Working on the intake area of the build now which is where all the details are going to be. Stuff like ignition wiring, throttle linkage, fuel lines and all the mumbo jumbo stuff that goes in there.... All test fitted together with a set of carbs that I have in the stash. Proper carbs will go on top when I get 'em in the mail.... and for test fitting the engine into the frame to check out header options, header to frame clearances and general fit..... so I don't damage or mess up any of the details that I'm building here I've got another 427 that came in a glue bomb Maverick that I got in the mail that's undergoing a restoration/ transformation.
