Working on my big and little trucks. made pleated door panels and finished filling the frame rails
Can you let me know what sheet you use for the pleated door panels. I have been using small half round but it is a real pain on the door panels and that looks great and way easier.

Love where you are going on this one. What wheels are they? They have a great finish on them.
-
Love the addition to the tuck and roll. I am taking my first stab at it on a 60 impala I am building. When you do yours do you lay the half rounds on top of a piece of styrene sheeting to back it or are you just gluing the half round together?
Looks great. Can't wait to finish painting my 1:1 so I can get back onto the work bench.

Love the frame really cool with what you can do with technology.hope my truck turns out half as cool.
I have been following your Apache build. You have nothing to worry about on coolness. That project looks like its a real killer.

This build is coming out great. Keep up the killer work. I am looking forward to seeing this one progress.

Sorry for lack of updates on the Cameo lately. I am slowly working on assembly of the rear suspension and some then some final engine details. Had to step away from the bench for a bit and have a couple weeks to go still before I am back most likely. I am trying to finish the rebuild of my 1:1 show truck and am just about to get her into the paint booth and then I can get back to the build bench.
Thank you though for all the comments and interest in my build.

Andy , the floor pan was made from scratch so that i could put it in after the cab was assembled , I don,t have any tips other than I made it just a bit shorter then the kit floor pan ,used a strip of [ L ] styrine along the back so it would not go to far up in to the cab , the floor pan and door panels and dash are all separate , so the dash will go in first then the door panels and then the floor pan , it took some planning but that is how I did it , the floor pan is not as wide as the one for the kit but the door panels will take up the gap .I.m sorry I don,t keep my measurements of what I,m making there are just to meany to keep track of ,
Thank you for the help. I am going to be getting into one if these and these tips will really help I think.

What did you use to darken the door gaps and do you have any pics on how you made the interior so that you were able to install it after the cab had been assembled?? I have this one on the shelf but have read that the inter goes in before the cab can be assembled?

Great idea with filling those seams up front like that. Can't wait to see more on how this one comes out.

Did you use a styrene stick and heat it for that notch or did you layer some styrene sheets together to get that radius? Really cool build so far and I am looking forward to seeing this one come along. I am a lover of these trucks. I have a build thread on here of a 55/57 Cameo.

Can you attach links to those other threads that you mentioned? I love stalking your builds!!!

This is a riddler winner with mods and details like this. Beautiful work!!!
-
This is an amazing looking build. Love all the detail. Amazing!!!! Did those air cleaners come with the kit or are they aftermarket?
-
Wow just amazing looking tires!!
-
Wow very impressive. I will have to look into something like this sometime I think. Beautiful work and progress.
-
Looking forward to seeing more on this build!! Great concept.
-
Blown away by this build!!! Can't wait to see it ready for casting!!
-
I usually use a small piece of styrene or the little red sticks from those cheese and cracker snack packages work really well also. wrap the paper around the red stick and it gives a nice long block for sanding flat.
-
Wow you are really catching onto that lathe!!! Great work and detail!!! Do you have machining experience going into this??
-
Wow that is great looking. Can't wait to see them detailed out. You have a lathe at home for turning these? I would like to see about getting one down the road.

Thank you Slusher. I am waiting for the post office to find my chrome and then I can wrap this puppy up.
-
LOL yea its a little late for that. I have another one on the waiting list that will be getting a chop done to it and another one that is still on the drawing board. Thank you for the compliments!!
-
Me too Jason. My chrome parts are in Post Office limbo right now so that is holding up a few things at this time. Frustration doesn't even begin to describe it. No wonder the Postal Service is going out of business.

Thank you Karl!
Hi Len. Not sure about making this a full kit yet. I'm doing a few for myself. A stock one, a fire engine, and an 8 car transporter semi truck loaded with Motorama cars. I might do a few built ups to sell to pay for the project.
Not sure if a kit could work but I'm thinking about it. It's huge and would take a lot of silicone. I've had plenty of items that people said they wanted. I made it available and when it came to order, I got little response.
Sci Fi guys can spend $1000 on a resin kit without a flinch. Plane and Armor models spend less but still pay quite a bit. Car guys might complain at a $30 resin kit. I can tell you with the size of this (it's like a bus) a resin kit would be in the hundreds.
No offense intended (I'm a car guy first). It's just the reality of the market. Car guys don't spend as much as other genre modelers do. I would have to think carefully about a kit because it is a lot of labor, time, and monely invested on my end. I can't afford to make a bunch and sell a few.
I would consider one in a smaller scale like 1/43rd.
Thanks, Rob
I have spent triple digits like that for a resin kit before. Good quality is not cheap and cheap quality is never good. Great looking project and build. I would like to learn a bit more on the 3D program your using from you if I can PM let me know. I recently did a custom truck frame and components in 3D and had them printed. Great build here!!

Thank you for getting back to me. I will have to look for this next time I am at Hobby Lobby. I have always used the hadlf round "Evergreen" Styrene strips but I see this being a lot easier for the things like door panels and trunk floors.
Love the Apache project
