  1. appears to be made by trumpeter, part number TSM9918.
  2. it wasnt the first kit i ever built but something about the Green Hornet Monogram model in the flatish box got me. Probably that you could lift the body off the chassis and see all the (pretty minimal) chassis and engine detail. i liked that idea and i ended up building it a bunch of time with Revell parts pack motors and stuff like that.
  3. white is available again? great! i bought and used some duplicolor white primer on suggestion from someone around here, and it was ok but definately not as fine as that tamiya white primer. looked like grain actually...easily sanded flat but you dont need that with tamiya. even though the price is outrageous, the product is worth it imo.
  4. i thought for sure it was 1/12 scale or bigger, man thats really some great work for 1/25! looks great and the added detail really did multiply the effect!
  5. looks great, i love the stuff you post. could you post a closer view of the motor compartment please?
  6. heres one: yours looks killer; next one i do i am going to have to deal with that seam...those velocity stacks look very nice too...did you make them or find them somewhere aftermarket? take a look at this if you're interested: http://www.modelcars...nn&fromsearch=1 i hope to finish that up this winter... its too kool how fujimi includes that engine stand and the internal detail to display half apart. just a great kit even with the fit problems. excellent source of VW/Porsche hop up parts
  7. sounds to me like his "injector" was working just fine.
  8. >So.... this means there will be no custom version at all? Kinda sounds like it especially if they filled in the T Top. I could see building one of these as a kind of pro street car with its nose down.
  9. looks killer and i dig that scratchbuilt fuel block. great work!
  10. hey that looks great and a suggestion: maybe if you got two of those micro micro super strong magnets and glued them, one on the body and one on the bonnet, the hood would snug down tight against the body, given of course there isnt interference under the hood/bonnet. if you can find room at this late date, magnets work great for that kind of thing.
  11. lookin good and i like that filled roof! i gotta get back to unfinished projects too.
  12. yep there it is big as life (or in grampas case, death)! no doubting the provenance now. thanks for the pic link thats a really kool site
  13. sectioned with a pancaked hood
  14. they will probably send you a whole new kit. then you will have six rears and two fronts! seriously though, great customer service usually...
  15. I have to weigh in here with a vote for Mr Obsessive, Bills work has totally bowled me over ever since we have been posting in the forum! I also think John Teresi has been a total inspiration to just look at what he puts out in a seemingly reasonable length of time, its just amazing. but really most of my real influence was back in the very early 60s seeing models in magazines by Dave Shulkis (sorry i am messing up his name here) but i was always impressed by those cordoroy interiors and low chopped tops. Augie Meyer, never met him but always wished i had, ive been inspired a lot by his creations. Juha Airio (again sorry for the probably name mess up but you know who i mean) thats not to say i can come up to any of those levels but i always keep in mind what would greats like those think of the way i am attempting to do this whatever i am doing...
  16. Wow not THATS a truck I can appreciate! (that one with all the graphics I mean)! thats pretty excellent looking for an odd subject! heres what I have picked up recently, the two Skyline kits I got at our LHS that is currently going out of business. a real loss too because they have been around forever and remained up to date on kits and supplies. Riverside Hobbies in Sacramento CA by the way...but they are currently offering 20% off even their discounted prices so there are some bargains, and as time goes on, and the stock dwindles, the percentage discount will increase. anyhoo here a shot of the haul for past couple weeks: note i only got the two skyline kits at riverside, the rest were ebay scores. I paid about 12$ (really) for the older skyline and about 25 for the one with the predetailed motor and stand (because the hood doesnt open and there is no moulded in engine bay or anything...kinda funky if you ask me). the stuff in the middle is a metal Deuce chassis by curbside dioramas, along with all the metal parts for the front suspension, big ole Ford rear end, plus resin parts for a Deuce Highboy conversion. Frame is very well assembled and appears quite straight and flat, got all this stuff off ebay for about 25$ shipped. I forget how much just the chassis cost but this is the whole shebang. heres a couple closeups: pretty good week overall...
  17. the reissue ala kart, like mentioned got mixed reviews when it was released. i bought a couple of them though and i think they are pretty kool, i think the decals are a shade off and some other issues but the motor looks nice and compact, heres a shot of one i built recently to show the general level of detail
  18. what does everyone think about the exclusive ones with the red stripe right in the middle of the white sidewall? was there a real life prototype for that design? if not, how acceptable is it to use them (note: i myself would use them just because they look kinda kool...would have been kooler with blue stripe maybe, but i am asking more for the sake of contest table nit-pickers (used in the very nicest way)) on say a mid 60s rod? i like the idea of bringing back parts packs (what a surprise and here i thought they were an extinct species), and i wish they would now bring out some matching skinny front tires ideally with some halibrand kidney bean wheels!

  20. the worst part is, when that "####" whatever gets substituted, the imagination takes over and it seems a lot worse than it probably was. and "kids" could probably show us a thing or two about cussing unless they are being brought up in some mormon cave in southern utah. seriously, i think the editing is a bit silly myself. but rules is rules i guess.
  21. got a link on that harry?
  22. nobody is going to bid on that thing; classic case of you can ask whatever you want for something, but getting it is another thing altogether.
  23. >The builder was given a higher place award to compensate his loss. now THAT was totally bogus! Completely throws any meaning to an award right out the window. I can hardly believe IPMS would put up with this as rigid as they seem about rules and stuff. just sayin...
  24. i was at a show once that our model club was hosting and overhead of the display table was a balcony and this lady was up there fiddling around with her cell phone and yep you guessed it: she dropped the *&^% phone and it landed dead center on a club members pride and joy chevy hardtop that he had just finished for the show. completely smashed in and cracked the entire top, shattered the windshield and i forget what all else. the lady came down and asked for her phone and didnt even evidence any concept that she had just broken someones model and when she was informed of that she offered to give the guy like 20$ or something. i believe she was invited to take a hike. i think our club then rebuilt the car for the builder although i am a bit foggy on the exact outcome, only that the poor car was pretty much completely destroyed. believe me, after seeing that, i moved all my models to the back of the table, under the overhang.
