  1. Fuel Lines are run. Throttle linkage is sorted out. Firewall is installed--it wasn't completely in its final location, yet, when I took the photos. I'm about to get started on the engine, after a couple of more little items...
  2. I absolutely love watching stuff like this come together! Fantastic work, sir.
  3. I always appreciate your kind words, Francis! If I can pass along anything I've figured out, or learned from others, and it helps or inspires other modelers, then I am happy! That is one of the things I enjoy most, about this hobby. I got everything installed, except the link from the throttle pedal, to the pivot. I still need to fine tune the fit of the firewall, and attach it in place. The bracket is for the throttle linkage. Once this is all buttoned up, I will build the dash, and then, it's on to the engine, which I have been sorting out. I have a story to go along with it, but, I'll save that for then. Any questions, critiques and comments are welcome, and appreciated. Thanks for looking!
  4. I ended up buying promos of an AMX, and a Maverick. I can go any direction with those. They were considerably less expensive than kits.
  5. Yes, I am interested in seeing it, "in the flesh"!
  6. Andy, yes, I am thinking that the stuff I remember from when I was young would have the proper look. Ain't any other reason! Claude, I remember trying that when Randy Derr and Jim Drew(?) were doing low-budget, high tech articles on some ancient clay tablets. When you get it right, it's very convincing! I've revisited it, recently, and find it to be a bit tricky, to get it just "so", but there are applications where I definitely plan to use it.
  7. Mine showed up, today! It's great to have something tactile.
  8. Truly a bummer. Was just looking at a couple of his models, recently.
  9. One of the things I am looking forward to building/seeing, is the fuel tank vent. It can be seen in this line drawing, fastened to the back of the cage. While my model obviously isn't a replica of Edmunds' racer, it's a feature that will add interest to the car.
  10. I've been running the chassis fuel lines. I'm really disappointed in myself for not paying better attention to the paint on the chassis. It looks like an anagram for a certain bottom-feeding fish! I got the main fuel line and the return line hooked into the tank. The fittings are made with wire and Plastruct hexagonal stock. Main fuel line is braided lead-core fishing line. Return line is .020" beading wire. I made a zip-tie, using Clover House black monofilament, to bind the "hoses" to the chassis. I am very happy with the way the lines "flow"! As soon as I sort the interface between the throttle pedal/linkage and firewall, I should be able to run these lines through the firewall, and get that installed. That will be a big step toward mounting the wheels. As always, questions, comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking!
  11. I have an old jewelry store display case. Within the last year, or so, I added a strip of LEDs, for illumination.
  12. Welcome aboard, Ryan. I know Waverly. I used to live in the fourplex behind the big bank, in Howard Lake!
  13. I have a Mooneyes on preorderfrom them. I have parts packs to build one, but...
  14. Exactly. I don't really blame the sellers.
  15. The sheets I have are 5"X7". Step flashing. I got so many of them that I haven't even looked at others, since. ? That was 17 or 18 years ago, now.
  16. Oh, man! Just...wow. This is such a pleasure to look at! Phenomenal work, Tim!
  17. That can be eliminated with annealing. I love to work with flashing! I've found the most difficult part of working with it, is sanding off the plastic coating. That's a pain!
  18. Good ol' "Corn Flakes"! Those guys used to own the road, it seemed.
  19. That's what I am saying. The seller is generating the label. Then it's several days before the USPS takes possession. Sellers are sitting on items, until payment clears, before they actually ship the package. It's not like I'm usually ordering anything I need tomorrow, but, it's something of an annoyance.
  20. I have a Revell snapper '34 Ford that I applied gold leaf numbers to the doors. I will try to remember to post a photo, after work.
  21. I would guess that it would work, just fine. After you apply the leaf to the sheet, brush on a coat of Micro Superfilm. If you don't have that, a coat of clear should do the trick. Try it on an old sheet, first, to be sure, but I can think of no reason it wouldn't work.
  22. I would recommend using foil from a wine bottle. Virtually anything with texture, is going to be too "heavy", texture-wise. As I sit here in the truck, and look across the cab, the belt on the far side of the cab looks smooth. Use something smooth and very malleable, so you can form it.
  23. It's probably what Hobby Lobby sells under the Maid-O-Metal brand. They call it tooling aluminum. It has a ton of great uses!
