Nice work on the clear Tim. I agree the clear really made the blue pop. Sure wish I had time to work on another project, we just have so much going on with getting the house ready to sell and getting the motorhome prepped for travel that there is no time right now. But at least I can come on the site and watch everyone's great builds going on.

When your going for that second or third owner look that might have done a little subtle customizing, then the stripes look just fine my friend. I would have worked them the same way if I were painting them. I've watched your builds long enough to know that this one will look outstanding when you complete it.

Thanks Geoff. I knew this one was gonna be my last build for awhile so I wanted to go all out as much as I could with it. I hope I will get time, once the wife retires early this summer and we get our house sold, to work on another build.

Nice work on the engine detail Joe. I know what you mean about so much going on.The wife and I have been swamped with work on our house these past few weeks trying to get all the little detail issues fixed so it is ready to sell. The realtor came by and listed it before I even felt we were ready so now gotta bust back sides to get those little things done before he shows it.

Nice restoration work Snake. I really like how you do such good work saving some really great subjects from the scrap yard. I love the old AMC cars. It was a shame when Chrysler bought them out and ended the line.

The Model Car Garage offers a true 1/25 scale black vinyl top material that works and looks really good. Vinyl Top Kit from the Model Car Garage I have used it on a few of my builds including my last one, a 68 dodge dart build. You can find it in the under glass area here 68 dodge dart custom with vinyl top Its a peel and stick material that trims up easy with a xacto knife. It does take a little patience to get it loose from the wax backing paper, but with a little patience and work it looks good and to the right scale and is a true vinyl material.

When I started high school, quite a few of the seniors drove tricked out compacts like Falcons, Darts, and Chevelles. I think you hit the nail right dead center on the head, with this build.
Thanks a lot. Same for me. I had a 63 dart for awhile in high school and traded that to a friend for a 65 Chevy II and eventually traded that for a 69 Impala SS to another friend. Seems like we were either working on our cars to make them cooler it we were trading them to each other when we got tired of them lol.

Nice work on the tires Tim. I think you'll be fine on the decals as far as the yellowing but the main thing with using old decals, if they have any serious age to them, especially Revell's decals, is they tend to either crack when applying, or they sometimes will curl on the edges from most of the glue being too aged and not activating when wet, and the curling sometimes doesn't show itself until you apply the clear coat. I had that happen to me on a old Revell boss 302 kit I bought at a swap meet once. it ruined a otherwise perfect paint job. If your not sure, and dont want to trust them, there are plenty of people making aftermarket 69 Z28 decals out there. just google search for them. Ive done the window bleaching thing a few times and it's kinda hit and miss, sometimes it works and sometimes not.

Howdy Tim Buddy, I like the way you modified the stance. It has just that nice subtle rake. I've built a few of revells 69 camaro's in my day and back in the mid 70s when my dad owned a body shop, quite a few 67 68 and 69 camaro's ended up in his shop for touch ups and repaints, and other owner booboos, so I've seen a lot of different configurations and trim packages on them. And though I've heard many times since the revell kit came out about the body not being accurate, I just dont see what is in-accurate about it. some of the 69 Z's that came into dad's shop had the chrome trim on the shark vents and some didn't, my uncle even ordered a 69 Z new from the dealer and he was able to pick and chose what he wanted on the car and what he didnt, when it came to the trim package. He ordered his without the trim on the fender wells, shark vents, and the lower door area and Willis Chevrolet of Smyrna, Delaware was happy to oblige him. Back in those days the factories and/or dealers would allow a customer to custom order cars with a lot less restrictions than they have these days. Heck a lot of times they would even oblige a customer on a special order non stock color choice. And if the factory wouldnt make the color change the dealer would. My dad ordered a brand new 63 chevy impala in 63 and asked for and got it in what I used to tell him was a crappy green that he later told me was the closest thing to apple green he could get. Now it could be that the dealer did it for him that way, (after all I was just a boy back then) but I know it was delivered to our house that way when he finally got it.

Thanks davewilly. Been along time since I've been on. Wife and I are on the road full time RVing in our 5th wheel. It's a little hard to build new projects at the moment. Hope to find the space and time to build something new someday. But until then I plan to enjoy watching all the great workbench builds in progress on the site.
