Exactly. I'm interested to hear how the '65 GTO roof fits the new Cutlass body. What a shame they didn't include that in the new kit. Or a new convertible up-top. Or, better yet, both.

I've bought MANY kits just for parts. Particular favorites in this category include the AMT '72 Nova, the various Revell '69 Camaros, and the AMT Double Dragster. I bought a couple Tommy Ivo Showboats at Ollie's just because it looked like there would be a LOT of great parts of various kinds in there.

The '66 car was completely different, with long nose and altered rear wheel openings. No idea what kind of chassis was under that one.

Finished watching this week's show. Big Chief's on the trailer, and by the slimmest of margins imaginable ("tire crack"). I wonder if Boosted got a special pleasure out of ruling against Chief. Oh well, Daddy Dave squeaked by on exactly the same thing. Next week we see what Birdman is driving.

Biggest mistake you could have made. They ARE "painted on" now. My go-to decal removal method is scraping with a fingernail under hot running water. I can't promise it will work, but it might be your best shot. Might as well start accepting the idea that you'll have to strip and repaint. If you luck out and don't have to, it'll be a good day. He didn't make last night's show either, so I guess that makes two losses and he's out. Haven't seen all of last night's show yet, but I did see Mike Murillo, Disco Dean, and Doc get sent home. Doc sure took the wrong 7 Dwarfs name. He should be known as Grumpy. Oh wait, that wouldn't work, Grumpy is a name associated in drag racing with winning. Maybe "Whiney" would work for him. Or "Crabby." Or "Cranky." Very sorry to see what happened to Kamikaze on the 405 show, too.

Just bought (on impulse) a resin body for Jungle Jim's '67 Nova. I already have the decals, and should have suitable paint, so I just need to piece together a chassis. Did a google-image search and couldn't find one pic with the body up. From what I can tell, it SEEMS to be a tube-frame chassis, with the chassis painted a similar blue color to the body. I'm thinking the early Logghe chassis from one of the reissued MPC funny cars (such as the Judge GTO) should work, or be close enough to adapt. Anyone have any other info on the chassis of this car, or any ideas?

There it is. There have been very few times since I was about 8 years old that I've left home without a book or several magazines to read. I have a low threshold of boredom.

March issue: Eight pages on building a somewhat improved Revell Starsky & Hutch Torino. The subject matter did nothing for me, and I didn't learn anything from the build how-tos, but in fairness this would probably be a pretty good article for the experienced aircraft, armor, starship, or monster modeler contemplating building their very first model car. No car kit reviews (or reviews of any other kits, for that matter). Couple interesting (to me) airplane builds.

You can try to touch up the paint with a brush (might take a couple applications), bury it in clear, and polish it out. I just did this on one and it came out nearly invisible, but it was a solid red, not a metallic like your purple. Still, worth a try before you strip. Come to think of it, I also just did it on another one with a metallic purple darker than yours here. So it might work. The other thing you can do is come up with some sort of graphic or stripe or something of this nature that would cover that area. (Personally, I'm not seeing it in this particular case.) No. Sounds like a waste of time. If anything, you'd want the plastic just a little rough before primer, not polished. #600 grit sandpaper is about perfect. A Scotchbrite pad (finest grit) works well, too. That said, I usually don't do any prep to my bodies before priming/painting, except of course any necessary bodywork such as mold line removal (and panel line deepening).

How could I possibly have forgotten the horrid MPC/AMT '57 Corvette flip-front "gasser?" The two body halves don't come close to mating up. In this pic, the top body is right out of the box, taped together, the middle one is the flipper body after MANY hours of work, and the lower is a one-piece MPC '57 Vette body. But I improvised, adapted, and overcame, and about ten years later I managed to drag the wretched backbirth across the finish line for one of the BOYD builds.
