Sweet! I don't get jealous often anymore, but now I am jealous. (I had an original in 1968. Still have the finished model, but don't have the box or all the extra goodies.)

Pontiac Lemans French Connection

If it's a factory color, probably Canyon Copper, possibly Castillian Bronze. -
Sweet! I'm not a big enough fan to special-order one, but if I run across one at the right price, I'll snap it up for my diecast Ferrari collection. Thanks!

I'd have never painted it that color, but I bought it that way and was able to make it work with 6 coats of clear lacquer, polished out. It'll be different. Different is good (sometimes). I'm hoping to build the first four generations of Nova this year. First done will be the '66 JunkNova. I have a Revell '69 painted and ready for the BOYD build for some time now. Am restoring a '62 (and hope to get the '65 junk body ready, and maybe build the '63 wagon too. And then I hope to get at least one '75/'76 one done (round headlights, not the Squad Rod).

Probably not the one you're hoping for, but here's the build thread:

I can relate. The AMT '65 Chevelle dirt tracker hit me the same way. I intended to build it in parallel with Stupidbird, but after the first couple sessions I decided to set it aside until Stupidbird is finished, or nearly so. I've also got another active project on the bench, JunkNova, and yet another, a full-custom AMT '65 Impala convertible, receiving some attention too, as the mood moves me. I am TRYING this year to get a model finished, or at least within sight of the finishing line, before starting any more. I think it's impossible for me to work on one model at a time exclusively, but if I can keep it down to 3 or 4 or 5 I think I'll be more productive.

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Snake45 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Okay, here's the new '63 Wagon body with the '66 Nova pro street chassis I've been altering to use with a "Switcher" '65 body. As you can see the major problem is that the Wagon has the underhood sheetmetal molded as part of the body, whereas the inner fenders and firewall are built up separately on the '66 chassis (both stock and PS). You'll have to either cut the underhood metal out of the Wagon body, OR build the '66 chassis without these areas and figure out how to engineer the '66 front suspension to work without the upper mounting points. Otherwise it looks like everything will fit fine.- 599 replies

Since it's a popular vote, if you enter more than one, you're competing against yourself and diluting your own chances, so I don't see why there would actually need to be a "rule" about it. I'm definitely planning to build two and have hopes to build at least two others. I have no illusions that any of them would be a "winner," I'm only in this for the fun (and the incentive of building a few models I've had in mind for a while).

VERY nice! For a second I thought the first picture was the REAL car you were replicating. Model on!

Kits Which Were Once This, Then Became That

I think before that, they got a "dune buggy" out of it, too. -
Window schmutz --- how to get rid of it??? Help!
Snake45 replied to gjorenby's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's possible but not certain that the Future protected the glass from the glue. Worth a try washing it in alcohol. Otherwise, you'll have to sand and polish out the glue booger. Done it many times, and yes it can be done on installed glass with care. -
I bought three of them last year and restored four (the fourth was my own original from 1966). In 2019 I also bought and restored three, plus a nice red '65 promo that I haven't laid the Snake-Fu on yet. This one was by far the nicest, and the closest to stock/unmodified. I didn't do much to it but clean it, detail-paint the wheel covers, and Silver Sharpie the window trim. I forget exactly what I paid for it but I considered it a bargain at the time. It wasn't over or even near $100; only thing I've ever paid near that much for is a nice '69 Javelin promo. I'm about Mustang-ed out for the moment and haven't been looking at/for them lately.

My Google-Fu is strong today. Took me about 10 seconds to find out it's a "silicone mouthpiece face exerciser." Apparently Japan has a lot of fat faces, or something.

1969 AMC Rambler (Rouge) Jo-Han Hemi Streetmachine

Not a fan of the color but you got a really nice finish on it (pre-polish, no less!) and I like where you're going with it. Drive on! -
Finally finished up all the scratchbuilt suspension for Projekt Junk Nova. Cut, scraped, and filed all the mold lines off a pair of ladder traction bars for it from an AMT '72 Nova (that alone took about an hour). Painted the chassis and all the suspension parts flat black primer in preparation for its semigloss coats. Whew! With a little luck, I'll be able to tack JunkNova's chassis together on Friday and have it finished enough by Sunday to take it to the local toy show and show it off to the vendor who sold me formerly useless, worthless, parts-missing POS.

That's pretty cool in its own way! Well done and model on!
-
You'll spend more than that on even a restorable builtup 1/25 AMT original or less-than-perfect promo. I know--I've bought 6 or 7 of them in the last few years. The only other way to get to a 1/25 '65-'66 Mustang fastback is to bash the AWB body with the '66 coupe kit, and you'll have more than $35 in that, too, and still need an interior tub.
-
Still worth picking up if you like the subject matter. This particular variant hasn't been available in a long time.
-
What Coronet said. It's a pretty decent kit, but it's definitely 1/24 scale, not 1/25.

Very nice! Well done and model on!

Very clean, very nice! Well done and model on!

+1 on cracks. Also +1 on suspecting insufficient drying time on one or more layers involved.
