  1. Got this Corvair in a trade with SamIAm. It's no longer a survivor, I've stripped it down and will rebuild it up again, even better. Bought this '62 Nova off eBay. It too has been stripped and will be rebuilt, but this time much closer to stock.
  2. Cheap generic lacquer thinner.
  3. I do believe the WWII Jeep was also referred to as a 1/4 ton. At any rate, the Italeri Willys MB is the common WWII military Jeep, known and loved the world over.
  4. Why not offer it up in the Trade section? If it's rare/desirable, someone will want it enough to swap you something you want more for it. If you don't get any offers, go ahead and part it out.
  5. Nice to see their 1/72 F-5A back. I built one years ago and it's a little gem. If you like this airplane and this scale, this is THE kit of it! I can also highly recommend their 1/24 Willy MB Jeep. MUCH better than MPC's!
  6. I think JJ lived somewhere in the West Chester PA area. He's buried there, at any rate.
  7. Look for Ranma's thread on his second one. He describes exactly where and how to trim the '66 chassis to fit under the '63 body. I followed his tips and now have a '66 Pro Street chassis sitting under a junk '65 Nova body that I'm working on rehabilitating.
  8. I tried to research this some months ago, and was unable to come up with an answer.
  9. The click-baiters are at it again, pimping out our beloved Jungle Pam. Just saw these two, right next to each other. One said "Photoshop Didn't Exist Then, So These Are Real," and the other was "13 Top Secret Photos the Government Had to Release." I am not making this up. And I can guarantee you that if you click on those stories and click through all 75 or whatever pictures, there will be nothing about Jungle Pam in either story.
  10. First order of bidness on mine will be fixing the edges on the front end and the front doors. The tube glue had "rat-eaten" these edges and there's no good way to fix them, they'll have to be rebuilt completely (pic back on Page 1). I've put a layer of "fauxberglass" (newsprint impregnated with superglue) on all four back surfaces to stick out and act as a reinforcing shelf; when the fauxberglass is cured, I'll lay a bead of Loctite Super Glue Gel (ask for it by name) along all four edges and then work those beads down to form the new, clean door and fender edges. Have also started seeing if I can make that clear top fit a little better. As of right now, I'm looking at a simpler paint job than the Winfield Fade I originally had in mind. Thinking of Krylon Sparkle Green, a "bass boat metalflake," or perhaps a two-tone with that and Testor White Lightning (white pearl). We'll see what happens.
  11. I'm watching too. I recently got a case of Disco Nova Fever and accumulated several of these--2 new kits and three or four glue bombs. I just finished the paint strip on one of the GBs and am looking for ideas for a simple, easy, fun, cool build. Drive on!
  12. No, this is the original that inspired the ongoing group build thread.
  13. I thought there was something wrong with the size and/or shape of the C-pillars, and maybe the quarters. I gave some thought to chopping a section out of the area, and then decided it just wasn't worth the effort and drove on. I would say what I ended up with looks more like a '66 Chevelle than the contemporary '69 Camaro kit looks like a '69 Camaro.
  14. That's the trouble with Chinese "clone" stuff. Nothing ever seems to interchange with stuff from the first world--or even a lot of other Chinese stuff, for that matter. I've run into that with gun parts, too.
  15. If you look for stuff on eBay, you have to be prepared to watch a while. Awhile back I was looking for a '75-ish Nova, and they all seemed to be going for $50 plus at the time. But after a few weeks I'd found two under $30.
  16. A few months ago, that would have sold on the far side of $60. Maybe way above.
  17. Yes, you can. I've done it. It's actually a lot more work than you'd think. And then you have to do a bit of work to make the front end fit. And then you have to fix the caved-in front section of the roof. And after all that, you've got a 1/24 model, not 1/25, if that matters to you. But yes you CAN build that old Monogram backbirth into a semi-respectable model. I'm darn close to proud of this one.
  18. Super rare? They were in HL not long ago, and Ollies blew out a bunch of them for under $10 within the last 2 or 3 years. I picked up an extra just because they were cheap. There are 15 of them on eBay right now, and quite a few of them have sold on eBay in the last 30 days for between $25 and $35, or about MSRP of any new AMT or Revell kit. I don't consider that super-rare. They're available.
  19. I checked them out. Very few 1/24 cars of any kind. No bargains that I saw.
  20. Ace Garage should weigh in here. He pointed out that the front fender crease line goes up as it goes forward instead of down as it should. I have a couple of these kits but haven't yet built it so had never spotted this. Looking at the pics of the built ones above, it looks like he might be right. I have a nice cheap diecast holding down the '66 Chevelle slot on my shelf. I wonder if the front end of the Revell '66 wagon or El Camino could be grafted onto the Lindberg body for a more accurate shape?
  21. The chassis and engine on mine are complete. I'm going to be using that all (after painting it), including the cool original "Terra-Thrust" wheels. My interior is missing a couple of the custom pads, but if I don't have another set, I can scratchbuild those. Otherwise it's all there.
  22. Congratulations on your completion!
  23. I dug mine out and took it apart yesterday. Wow, roughest screw removal I've ever experienced. I need another started project right now about like I need another hole in my head, but I was having a fit of industry. Mine's in worse shape than I thought. Gonna take a lot of work. Luckily, I'm pretty sure I have everything I need to do it. My clear hood has a sink mark in one corner, so I'm not gonna worry about keeping it clear.
  24. Ah, NOW I see it! I've never seen one with the top hole and side vents filled before. I have a number of those things in my parts. I'll have to so mod and use one sometime. Thanks!
