I just did Snake-Fu on a Motor Max 2020 Corvette and I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out. I hope you like yours as well!

I got into model cars in 1966. Many of the AMT kits included the Cibie headlight as part of the custom options. I think maybe some MPCs as well. I think some of these headlights survive in reissues to this day.

Old Testors color chart
Snake45 replied to Kit Basher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very cool! I believe a very similar color chart used to run somewhere...back cover of the Auto World catalogs, maybe? -
Looks like a pretty clean '76 Vega promo, doesn't it? I thought so too when I brought it home from the local toy show a couple years ago (paid either $10 or $15, I don't remember which). It's complete, the chrome's not bad, the A-pillars aren't missing, broken, or cracked, and the overall finish is a nice shine that should be easy to work with. Upon closer look, however, about half of the right side A-pillar looks like it's been literally chewed on by someone or something. Or maybe the model was scraped by or banged into a brick or cinderblock corrner ONCE. It's really difficult to image what could have done this kind of damage without breaking, cracking, or even bending the A-pillar completely. And yet it's otherwise completely intact. If I wanted to paint it, this wouldn't be a big probem at all, but I'm really hoping to polish out the nice plastic, which seems to be a good match for Cream, a factor color that year. I THINK I have a fix plan that will work; I guess we'll see. There are also a couple chips out of the right side drip rail, but that should be a simple fix. Another problem with the thing is that some of the panel lines are VERY shallow, darn near wiped out completely. This is bad around the sides of the hatchback, the right front edge of the hood, and the headlight buckets. In these pics, I've already started rescribing some of these areas. though I haven't even disassembled the thing yet. We'll see what happens.

Do you think you're the first one to tell me that? Get at the end of a long, LONG line.....

Aren't those supposed to be out before the end of this year? (Assuming, of course, that we're not all killed by Murder Hornets or hit by the 2020 Meteor of Death....)

I've never understood the aerodynamic advantage of such a "wing." Can someone explain it to me?

Empire of the Sun. And it would have been more accurate to call it the Packard of the sky, as Packard actually built the Mustang engines.

The roofline on that Pinto is funky/wrong. Couldn't work with that. The other two don't look bad, especially the Vega. I just started a restoration of a "distressed" '76 Vega promo.

That's an excellent replica!

Walmart now has the 2021 Musclecars calendar (in the office/school supplies section). Sadly, they don't carry the Corvette or Camaro or Mustang calendars anymore. Only other motor-ish calendars they had were Harleys. If you want one, get it ASAP as they sell out fast.

Having been a job-seeker two or three times in the last decade or two, I can tell you that, big company or small, it is RARE anymore to get a "You didn't get it" notice from a potential employer. If you're LUCKY you'll get an email. In this case, "No news is bad news." I have had job offers from a company MONTHS after I took a job with someone else. I've never jumped ship for a latecomer.

Looks like a Fuglimobile to me.

Very very nice! I was going through some stuff today and ran across a glue bomb Challenger I bought a while ago and was wondering what to do with it. I think you've just given me an idea! Well done and model on!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Absolutely fantastic! Drive on! -
If you think it looks good without the wing, build it that way. It's YOUR model. FWIW, I'm planning to rebuild a JoHan Superbird as a modern road cruiser without the wing. Drive on!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Please, no more talk about paint booths. This would make a great topic up in General or Model Questions. Let's try to stay on topic here, please. Thanks! -
Built another Maisto diecast kit, this one the 2013 Viper coupe. Didn't go quite as smoothly as the Ferrari the other day (the side mirrors had to be trimmed/fitted a little), but still didn't take much over an hour. Only Snake-Fu needed is a touchup of the black in the side exhausts, and another coat of red on the rear side markers (they look the same color as the amber fronts).

Decals can be done before or after clearcoat. Clearcoat. Polish. (Coarse, fine, finish, if you need all three. I use Wright's Silver Cream for all polishing.) Decals, if you didn't apply them before clearcoat. If you haven't opened the wax, take it back where you got it for a refund. You don't need it.
