  1. Yup, remember it well. And we all made it through just fine, didn't we?
  2. I think that by spring, either things will have been back to normal for some time, OR we will be living in a Mad Max movie. I'm just not sure which way it's gonna go.
  3. If I were you, I would start by seeing if I could get that awful AMT body into shape and looking good (it CAN be done, but it takes care and effort) before spending a bunch of time building a nice chassis that will be hidden by a turd of a body. But hey, that's just me.
  4. Very nice! Some of those old Monograms can still be built to look great, as you illustrate. Model on!
  5. Got about 80-90% of the "rescue" work done on a built '71 Duster I bought at last month's toy show. (Would be lying to call it a "glue bomb," it's far too nice for that label.) Spent about 2-3 hours and it actually went quicker and smoother than I was expecting. All that's left to do is the detailing of the grille, which is gonna be a hot mess, I predict. And then started on a second built Duster, also from the toy show. I THOUGHT that one was gonna be easy, requiring mainly the detailing of the factory Rallye Wheels, but turns out to need much more work. For one thing, the rear axle had become unglued from the springs, so I had to separate the springs from the chassis and will have to fix all that. I HATE painting those Rallye Wheels, but hate even more how they look if just left all-chrome. This one also needs that nightmare grille work. I'll probably end up having 2-4 hours in it, too. Still, that's not a bad investment of time and money (paid $20 for BOTH of them!) to get a couple nice looking models on the shelf, especially of a car I like but not enough to do a full build of, when there are so many other things I would rather build.
  6. You just saved me some typing. Well, except for the part about wide whites. Can't stand wide whites, either. Same here. And even then, the 17s have to be carefully selected.
  7. Very nice, very clean build! Well done and model on!
  8. Very cool! I'll be glad to add you to the build at anytime. Model on!
  9. Very nice! I love seeing 'em brought back from the dead. Well done and model on!
  10. Tim, what is your project for this round of the BOYD build?
  11. At last, we can build a model of SOMETHING using the AMT '62 Vette kit!
  12. That's the way I feel about any male who doesn't carry some kind of pocketknife. How on Earth can you expect to get through your day without a pocketknife?
  13. Because somebody, somewhere, just HAS to pro-street one.
  14. No problem, Round 8 was its first go-round so you're entitled to one extension. I've added you to the list for the next update. GITTER DONE!
  15. Tim, the yellow Pro Shop '71 Duster--did that come with stock parts or just as the "street machine" version? I bought one of these built at the last toy show and it's got some kind of non-stock engine, and it's wearing some nice drag wheels and slicks that I suspect it didn't come with. (It's also got purple tinted headlights, but I see yours are clear so I assume the builder did that.) I have the green Pro Shop Duster kit unbuilt, so I know what's in that one. (Bought one of those nicely built at the toy show, too.) At today's toy show, the guy had the yellow Masterpiece '71 Charger--no box, just on the table with his other builtups and glue bombs. Not a huge fan of the car and the color didn't really grab me so I left it there. Now I'm kinda wishing I'd bought it. Oh well, maybe he'll still have it next month. I didn't even ask price but doubt it was over $20, and could have probably gotten it for $15.
  16. Fantastic! And so quick, too! Really looks good. Well done and model on!
  17. Reminds me of one from my own deputy sheriff days: "NHI shooting" incident. NHI meant "No Humans Involved." (I.e., shootings among motorcycle gang members and the like.)
  18. Looking good! As far as color, I built one of these back in the early '90s JUST because I wanted a model in that pretty turquoise that Chevies came in then. I got the paint from the then-new MCW and it came out great! I was going to do a Corvette in the same color but I never got around to it and the rest of the paint eventually dried up. I'll have to dig that thing out and take pictures of it sometime. This color:
  19. Wow, very nice work! Drive on!
  20. Looking GOOD! Now that I've wrapped up my latest BOYD build, I can dig mine out and get to work. Hope I can catch up soon!
  21. Okay, I finished it. Very different and creepy. Can't exactly say I "enjoyed" it, but I don't regret the time spent watching it, either. About an hour in, I started wondering, "Which one of these people is the witch? Looks like ANY of them could be....." I wonder if that impression was intentional, or was it just me?
  22. Very, VERY cool! How long did it take you to hack it out of the forest, and what tool(s) did you use to do so?
  23. AMT '37 Chevy, both coupe and convertible. The old MPC '32 Chevy roadster kits are still floating around at reasonable prices, too.
  24. Revell seemed to end up with quite a few of the Renwall molds (military vehicles and such), so it's possible that these could turn up with Atlantis at some point. There might be some hope, anyway.
