  1. I don't know either, but people keep telling me I "should" or "need to" buy and build Tamiya kits, just because they're Tamiya. I ain't having it!
  2. Probably. Ford wanted DD to use the Boss 429 but DD couldn't make it work to suit him and stayed with the SOHC, which he had pretty well figgered out.
  3. Might not feel like much, but it was all necessary before more significant progress could be made, so it was all important work! That's kind of why I started this thread, so we could all feel like we're making progress in some way, however small.
  4. Same here. And to reinforce the point, I've paid more than $55 for a glue bomb when I really, really wanted the subject matter.
  5. I'll do one with paint, wheels/tires and stance as a cool beach cruiser, and might do a second as a Modified Production dragster in the same vein as my '65 Chevelle wagon.
  6. Okay here's the final wrapup of Round 8, our most productive EVAH! with 14 completions! ROUND 8 : FINISH DATE SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 Tom Geiger: Jeepster MAKING GOOD PROGRESS! Anyone up for a Round 9? It would end December 31. So far it looks like we have a few extensions lined up already, and several others have expressed interest but not yet declared a specific project. 7. Found this on Showtime today and started watching it. Am about 1/3 in so far. Early on I decided to turn on the closed captioning and am glad I did! I wouldn't have understood half of what they were saying if I hadn't. Unfortunately, for some reason the CC on this movie is the slowest I've ever seen--it's about a full second to two seconds behind the voices. Kind of annoying.
  8. I doubt my build will be worth a WIP thread. Prolly just post pics when it's finished. I actually have a Maverick PS kit finished I could convert to the DD car pretty easily. Back in the '80s I built one as a street freak finished in overall Stoplight Red Metallic. I COULD just slap DD name on the lower body of that one and call it his car, but I kind of like it the way it is. Besides, the color's a little dark and a little metallic for the part.
  9. I wouldn't be able to resist painting it on the inside, just for the different look.
  10. Interesting...The Lovely Mrs. Snake got an ad from Jockey in the mail yesterday, with a coupon of some sort in it. I'll tell her what poor delivery service they have. Thanks for the heads-up!
  11. I'm in. I can think of at least a couple interesting things to do with it. And I've already got the 6-cyl early Nova slot filled...am currently rebuilding a glue bomb original '62 hardtop.
  12. Not that many. That's why there are so few 1/12 scale model cars.
  13. That one's easily understood. There's a vibrant 1/12 scale dollhouse market, all kinds of stuff is available.
  14. And it costs, what, 10, 20 times as much as the REAL cup of noodels? We can't get a '67-'68 Cougar, but some kitmaker thinks there's a market for THIS????
  15. Cool! I have Showtime, I'll look for it. Thanks!
  16. I got a pretty nice started but never painted or finished MPC '66 Corvette. The tires and a few minor parts are missing but nothing I can't rob from a common MPC '67 reissue, which I have a couple of in the stash. Original box but no instructions. I have another one that I think includes the instructions, maybe even the original decals, so I think I have enough to get a complete original factory stock '66 together and enough leftover stuff to do a '66 street cruiser. MIGHT even have enough goodies to do both a 327 and a 427!
  17. I'm of the impression that there's very little old tooling that's still usable or easily restorable that hasn't already been reissued in the last 20 years. But we do occasionally get an unexpected surprise, such as the upcoming AMT '64 Cutlass convertible and '63 Nova wagon.
  18. I've seen a couple about that bad, including a '66 Nova and a '68 Shelby. But now I'm gonna open up the two Vegas I just got from Model Roundup and make sure they're okay.
  19. That's what I would call a "family" of kits, much like the AMT '63-'67 Corvette coupe and roadster kits I mentioned in my first post in this thread.
  20. I have a couple JoHan Mavericks with exactly the same problem. Here's what I'm gonna try: 1. Using an intact body, take a silicone putty mold of the entire A-pillar. 2. Tape the silicone mold on the damaged body. 3. Fill the missing area with J-B Weld. Resin would work if you have that. That UV-glue stuff might work, too. I have an unbuilt copy of this kit if you'd like me to try making a silicone mold for you. Email me at SnakeACP45 at AOL dot com
  21. I just bought a "distressed" Maverick promo for a pretty decent price. If I don't turn up a rebuilder Pro Stock Maverick for a reasonable price soon, I'll drive on and do my Dyno Don car with it. I just want to do it either in primer, as the first car originally appeared, or in overall red, as the second car first appeared before the full paint job was applied. I'm watching your excellent build for tips and ideas. Drive on!
  22. I've watched every season of AHS, and still can't figure out whether I like it or not. I'll say this, though: There is some ACTING! going on there.
  23. I know that feeling all too well, but I don't think it's justified in your case.
  24. Okay, here's mine. FOURTEENTH COMPLETION, GOTTER DONE! This is one of my oldest surviving models, originally built in 1966 and repainted/rebuilt as shown in '69 or '70. This is the seventh original AMT '65-'66 Mustang fastback I've restored/rescued in the last two years, and it was in by far the in the worst shape of any of them, both overall and the body specifically. It was a shameful mess. Now it's barely fit to sit on my Survivors shelf. Here it is alongside with the fourth AMT Mustang fastback I restored/rescued (earlier this year), which was also built as a drag car. It's better than mine in every way except for the roached-out rear wheel openings. (And I have four other ones that are better than either of these two.) I'll post the final roundup of Round 8 tomorrow morning, to see if any more completions come in tonight.
  25. Yes, you and Tom are eligible for your one extension into the next round, since this was the first go-around on your projects. Great work, TimJ, our THIRTEENTH COMPLETION! GOTTER DONE! I just finished up the Mustang drag car, hope to have pics up in a little while.
