  1. That's pretty cool!
  2. Very cool! You are WAY ahead of me but then with the top chop, I guess you need to be. I'm finishing up a Mustang for the BOYD build deadline (Sep 30), but when that's done, I'll dig mine out and dig into it.
  3. If you'd said one family of kits, I'd have said the AMT '63-'67 annual Corvettes. All the same basic kit with the same basic bodies, but five distinct model years and two body styles (plus several different tops for the roadster)--build 'em stock, custom, road racers, drag racers, street freaks! That would keep me busy. But limited to ONE KIT, I'll take the AMT '68 Camaro Z/28. I assume I'm allowed to use aftermarket stuff (and/or kitbashed parts), which means I can build it as an RS, or convert it to a '67. I can do big-blocks, Trans Am racers, stock, SS, MP and Pro Stock drag racers, and an almost infinite variety of street cruisers/street freaks. Yah, I could make it work, if I absolutely HAD to.
  4. Okay, I'll play "Random Pix." Here are some of my earliest/oldest/first diecasts, dating back to around 2007-10. At that time I wasn't seeking them out or actively looking for them, but would buy cheap ones at the local gas station or Walmart if it was a car I was interested in, and if the overall shape of the thing looked pretty good to my Mark I Eyeball, and give them the treatment that's now known as "Snake-Fu."
  5. Nice save! Reminds me of some of my own "toy show rescues." Well done and model on!
  6. No. In fact, don't use it at all on plastic models. It's formulated to bite into commercial grade plastic such as lawn furniture, and will eat up model car bodies. Run away, run like the wind!
  7. I used to read Catch-22 about every five years, just because everyone you'll ever meet is in there, but I haven't done it now for a couple decades. Wonder where I put my copy?
  8. Looks pretty good, and you did a nice job of restoring it. Well done and model on!
  9. Very sharp, very clean build! Well done and model on!
  10. The real money would be in a "late fee." I suggest telling them they owe you a $47 "late fee."
  11. Finally got mine today! Of course, just because "it never rains but it pours," I also got The Last Issue of "The Other Magazine." AND the new issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines. AND the new issue of American Rifleman. Too much stuff to read is better than not enough, I can assure you.
  12. Another "swing and a miss" supergroup (IMHO): West, Bruce, and Laing.
  13. Okay, that's got nothing to do with this thread. Please start your own thread on it elsewhere if you wish. Thanks!
  14. SWEET score! I have a mint unbuilt one in my stash, but I enjoy it too much just that way to ever actually build it. But I shall enjoy your build vicariously and immensely!
  15. I can tell you that the non-acetone NPR will fog the glass used in most diecasts, so you're right in looking for something else. Rubbing alcohol works on SOME tampo, but not all. Worth a try, and it PROBABLY won't hurt the plastic. You might have the best luck polishing it off with something like Wright's Silver Cream. That's what I'd do, anyway.
  16. I never thought of Foghat as a supergroup, more of a "what Savoy Brown evolved into" deal.
  17. It's what happened after the Model Cars Mag forum got done with it. He already said he doesn't even like "To Love Somebody." He just ain't hooked up right. It is so very sad, 'cause he seems like a good guy in every other way.
  18. Nice bumpers!
  19. I do cars and airplanes (mainly cars for the last decade or so), and a tank every now and then if the mood strikes me.
  20. I have two Xacto razor saw blades, I believe they're 1/2" and 1" wide. (I tried to find them on the Xacto website, which is the most worthless, useless site in the world.) They're fine-cut. I think somewhere I have another one that's a bit coarser cut. I use them mainly without the handle, but they fit in a #5 handle if need be. I use them on literally every model I build, as the razor saw is my go-to parts removal (from sprue) tool. I've been using the razor saws since the late '60s. They're cheap enough that no modeler should be without them. Last year I bought nice set of photoetch razor saw blades that fit in a #1 handle. Have only used one of them a couple times but when I needed it, it was exactly the tool I needed.
  21. Thanks. Looks like I'll be about as well off "eyeballing" shortening the bed and wheelbase.
  22. If you cringe at "To Love Somebody," you just ain't hooked up right, my friend.
  23. I do not doubt this story for a second.
  24. Sounds about like buying SAAB parts over here. The prices are eye-watering!
  25. Hey, for all you know, playing that self checkout machine might have been the most exciting/interesting thing that happened to that old lady all day! But I get where you're coming from. At least she wasn't in the "live" line, standing there waiting until the clerk told her the total before she even started looking for her checkbook at the bottom of a huge purse. (Have played THAT game too many times!)
