  1. Been watching a lot of Memphis Street Outlaws lately. The other day I was rooting around in the Snakepit looking for something else entirely and discovered an AMT 1950 Chevy truck kit that I have no recollection of buying. So now I'm wondering if it might be possible to Snake-slap out a curbside "tribute" to Ole Heavy. (Not gonna detail the chassis or engine, just going for the stance, wheels/tires, and finish.) The kit looks like it has a longer wheelbase/bed than Ole Heavy. Google failed to tell me what its actual wheelbase is but did turn up that '49-'50 Chev trucks came in both 116 and 125 inch wheelbases. Is the kit a 125" WB and the real one is 116"? Also, is Ole Heavy chopped?
  2. THAT's not gonna buff out....
  3. I didn't have a leisure suit. I DID on the other hand enjoy SOME disco music. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, for example, is great music and richly deserves its place on the list.
  4. Interested to see what you do with the C8 Vette. I have one to do too.
  5. You are correct sir. Definitely should have been in top 100.
  6. I'm pretty sure you win!
  7. You are of course completely correct. Mea culpa!
  8. That pretty much describes my entire 60-year history of modeling!
  9. In my experience, scraping chrome is only necessary if you're looking for a strong, permanent bond. I've successfully attached chrome parts with both cyanos ("superglue") and white glue (Elmer's/Tacky Glue) for years, if not decades. Only think I can think of in Model Car World I'd ever need such a permanent bond on chrome parts would be chrome-plated engine block halves. And in that case, I'd either be stripping the chrome off the engine and/or flat-filing the mating surfaces for a perfect joint, which would of course remove the chrome.
  10. But every once in a great while, it kinda sorta works out, more or less. I rather like Kid Rock's use of Metallica in his "American Badass."
  11. Okay, I've now been through the full list and made note of which ones I actually own. Looks like about 26 of them: 24 The Beatles, 'Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band' 1967 30 Jimi Hendrix, 'Are You Experienced' 1967 40 David Bowie, 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars' 1972 53 Jimi Hendrix, 'Electric Ladyland' 1968 55 Pink Floyd, 'The Dark Side of the Moon' 1973 69 Alanis Morissette, 'Jagged Little Pill' 1995 88 David Bowie, 'Hunky Dory' 1971 92 Bruce Springsteen, 'Darkness on the Edge of Town' 1978 93 The Jimi Hendrix Experience, 'Axis: Bold as Love' 1967 101 Led Zeppelin, 'Led Zeppelin' 1969 121 Elvis Costello, 'This Year’s Model' 1978 123 Led Zeppelin, 'Led Zeppelin II' 1969 139 Black Sabbath, 'Paranoid' 1970 163 Various Artists, 'Saturday Night Fever' 1977 214 Tom Petty, 'Wildflowers' 1994 226 Derek and the Dominos, 'Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs' 1970 231 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 'BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH the Torpedoes' 1979 234 Black Sabbath, 'Master of Reality' 1971 292 Van Halen, 'Van Halen' 1978 298 Tom Petty, 'Full Moon Fever' 1989 301 New York Dolls, 'New York Dolls' 1973 303 ABBA, 'The Definitive Collection' 2001 353 The Cars, 'The Cars' 1978 355 Black Sabbath, 'Black Sabbath' 1970 366 Aerosmith, 'Rocks' 1976 (Not 100% sure but I THINK I have it) 430 Elvis Costello, 'My Aim Is True' 1977 I also have quite a few anthologies/"Best of" and live albums that would cover the music of another 10 or 20 albums on the list. Are You Experienced better than Electric Ladyland? Uh, no. This Year's Model better than My Aim Is True? No. Master of Reality better than Black Sabbath? No. I think they had Led Zep IV ahead of I and II. Just no. And I think there were at least one, maybe two early Springsteen albums ahead of Darkness on the Edge of Town. Not even! Aladdin Sane or Diamond Dogs or even The Man Who Sold the World should have been on instead of Hunky Dory. Good to see Tom Petty made the list three times, anyway. (Not sure I would have ranked Wildflowers the highest, though.) No Queen Sheer Heart Attack? Absolutely shameful. And no ZZ Top at all? Rio Grande Mud should be on here. As should Johnny Winter's Johnny Winter And.
  12. You of all people should understand that there's a BIG difference between quantity and quality?
  13. I don't recall seeing Meaty on the list at all. Personally, I like BoH2 much better than 1 (and the live VH1 Storytellers album even better), but can see that 1 should have been SOMEWHERE in the top 500.
  14. Very cool idea! I'll be watching. For several years I drove a Beretta, the 4-door version of this car. It was an okay little car for what it was, but nowhere NEAR as "peppy" as the Ford Taurus V6 it replaced (I just flat wore that one out. It was in an accident with enough front end sheetmetal damage that the insurance company "totaled" it but for a settlement of about $50 less, they let me keep it and since it still ran and drove fine, I drove it every day for another three years or so. Can't beat a deal like that.)
  15. I don't have a lot of confidence in one that doesn't have any Warren Zevon or Foreigner. (Was the list supervised by the same guy who said that neither one of them would ever get into the R&R HoF? And The New York Dolls make the list but Mott the Hoople doesn't? Joy Behar, Please!
  16. A friend at work gave me a Chickenfoot CD a couple years ago. I really liked one song on it, and several others were pretty good too.
  17. Very nice! I especially like the bronze Duster. Where's the figure from? Well done and model on!
  18. Full Metal Jacket... Full Moon Fever... Full Bumper Baldwin!
  19. Rolling Stone magazine has announced their "500 Best Albums of All Time." I started at the bottom and tried to work my way up, when I got to 450 I skipped right to the top 100. I MIGHT own 10 in their top 100. I'll bet I haven't even heard of half the albums on the list. Probably haven't heard of half the "artists." https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/best-albums-of-all-time-1062063/ Couple I was glad to see in the top 100: Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town and Hendrix's Electric Ladyland. They would both be in my personal Top 20, at least.
  20. JUST got the email that mine was shipped, and I should have it Friday the 25th. We'll see.
  21. Some new wood-grain decals in various scales. They look pretty good. http://www.hyperscale.com/2020/reviews/decals/ak9081reviewjm_1.htm
  22. Notice there are TWO different definitions there, one on each side of the word "or." Most of us are going by the second definition (as apparently intended by the OP), but NYLIBUD wants to use the first.
  23. Mine now says "Expected by September 25." It was saying Sep 22-25. Do they mean expected in MY mailbox on Sep 25, or they expect another shipment in Sep 25? Beginning to get annoyed.
  24. How about The Highwaymen? When Johnny Cash comes in with "I fly a starship...." I get chills up my spine.
