  1. Does one of them make it taste like chicken? If so, I'm good. I know lots of people eat squirrel, which is just a rat with a furry tail and a better PR team, so I guess rat might be edible.
  2. No bugs for me! I demand to eat farther up the food chain, thank you very much!
  3. Dyno Don later ran a '70 Mustang that was mostly yellow. He never had a "signature" paint scheme the way many of his contemporaries did, but from 1965 on usually had something in the "warm" end of the color scale--reds, oranges, yellows, etc. No blues, greens, black, or white as his main color. I say get creative with the paint job, since it's a phantom anyway.

Moving on to Monte Carlo Dragcarz: Mustang Funny Car SIXTH COMPLETION! GOTTER DONE! Now I'm making a mid-stream switch. My completion project will still be a '66 Mustang, but not the green hardtop I posted earlier. Instead, I'm gonna resto/rescue my old old original annual fastback, one of my very oldest survivors, and finish the rework I started over a decade ago and then lost interest in for some reason (probably because I wasn't that much into the "survivor" mystique at that time and was disappointed in how it was gonna turn out). Here's what I'm starting with. Since the pic was made, I've washed and polished the body and hood, and have started making the roof windows. Still need to come up with a rear bumper and pan, and either find the original front wheels/tires or decide on new ones.
  5. No one mentioned the Car Craft Dream Rod/Tiger Shark yet. Personally, I think the Tiger Shark was an improvement. And then Chevy turned the Mako Shark II into the Manta Ray. They should have left well enough alone.
  6. Shamefully, I haven't lifted a modeling finger in two or three weeks. Today I finally forced myself to Do Some Stuff. I scraped the crappy old decals off that '62 Nova glue bomb, and got the interior ready for a big swim in Lake Purple. Also took the chrome off the 6-cyl engine and dropped it in too, so I can paint it Chevy Orange. I also managed to get the goofy custom pyramid taillights broken out of the body, so I'll be able to use the repro taillights Chris sent me. Also got the solidly glued custom front pan off the body so I could test-it the '63 grille/bumper Mike sent. (Thanks, both of you!) Found out the hood will need a little repair at the headlight corners, but that's not a big deal. The next big job I've been putting off is making a set of Shelby roof windows for another AMT '66 Mustang I'm restoring for the BOYD build. (I made a set of them for another one a couple months ago.) First big job was to foray into the Snakepit to find another set of AMT '72 Nova side windows to make them out of. Then I made the patterns, and am now in the process of carving and wrestling the clear plastic into the needed shape. As James Brown might say, "HAH! I feel GOOD!"
  7. I saw prices on old/rare stuff go up in the spring and early summer. My theory was there were a LOT of folks sitting home getting that bonus $600 unemployment check every week and looking for a cool way to spend some of it. I know for a fact that such people existed because I was one of them.
  8. Novas were available in Hugger Orange in 1970, so you could just say it's a '70. Your engine looks more like a '70 LT-1, too. As found in the Yenko Deuces. In fact, you could put Yenko decals on it and pass as a Yenko,
  9. Looking good! I haven't even started my rebuild yet...trying to discipline myself to getting another one finished before I start it. Model on!
  10. Checked my bank account online and found out my first Social Security payment had been deposited. This was amazing--I only filed about three weeks ago, and I waited until days AFTER my birthday so there'd be no confusion that I wanted early retirement. Evidently everything worked as advertised and much faster than I expected. Well done, US Government, and pay on!
  11. Very, VERY cool model! I just bought a built one on eBay (seems to be complete) and was doing some research on the real thing on google and lo and behold this thread came up. Inspiration!
  12. He said 4 by 8 foot sheets. I know they exist--I used to have to buy them for work two jobs ago. We used them to make patterns. I carefully kept all the scraps, which were going in the trash, and I now have a lifetime supply of Vacuform plastic. If you use at least .020-.025" plastic, it doesn't need the holes around the edges to work. .030" works even better. The Vacuform is great for making model airplane canopies, and also sometimes airplane "sheet metal." In Model Car World, it's useful mainly for windshields, but you can sometimes do hoods and trunk lids if that's what you need. Also good for hood scoops, bubbles, teardrops, and so forth.
  13. That looks familiar. Here's mine after some minor Snake-Fu:
  14. Nice work! I got one of these in blue, will be following along to see if there's any tricks or tips I can steal from you for some Snake-Fu work.
  15. Same here.
  16. You could try searching by topics only, that would knock out the mere mentions.
  17. Big Neighborhood Yard Sale Day! No kits or glue bombs but I did score a like-new (possibly never used) Dremel drill press thingie for $5. There have been times when I really could have used one of these for some random modeling project. Do you realize what this means? Now that I have one, it means that never in my life will I EVER need one again, or even be able to come up with a good use for it. Ain't it always the way!
  18. That looks great, and I think silver wheels will look even better on my dark metallic blue one! Thanks!
  19. Nice! You don't see these built that often and I understand it's not an easy ride. Model on!
  20. Walmart's "cheap paint" Color Place black, white and gray primers were the best model car primers I've ever used. Unfortunately they don't carry it any more.
  21. I haven't found that stuff for 99c, but I haven't paid over $3 a can for it, which is about what it's worth.
  22. I was researching yesterday to see if I needed to silver-spoke the wheels on my C8 Vette. Found an article that said they're definitely NOT offered on the C8, it was thought that "chrome" wheels are now an "old man thing" and the "youthful look" is all-black wheels. Not sure I agree.
  23. When used on anything other than a Camaro, Chevy called the color "Monaco Orange."
  24. I wouldn't bet 50 cents that you could get a model of one finished.
