You need to do more than just "B pillars." You'd need to remove the vent window frames, fabricate complete frames (including the B-pillars) for the doors (this can all be done with one piece on each side), then replace the lower and rear chrome edges of the vent windows into the new frames. And the '67 Impala had curved side glass, so all this framing has to have a subtle curve. It won't be an impossible mod, but it's not gonna be fast and easy.

Yup, '61, side coves and no chrome trim on the rocker panels. Drive on!

Looking good! I wonder whatever became of the '66-'69 Lincoln molds? The '65 convertible is still with us, but what happened to the later molds? At any rate, drive on!

Okay, looking at pics in the DD book, there are several where the front wheel openings look stock (although the wheels themselves seem to have been pushed forward an inch or two inside them), and others where the front wheel openings are clearly moved forward and the rear wheel openings don't seem to have been enlarged rearward, if at all. These would seem to be the first and second Cougars--very different. The MPC DD Cougar kit would then seem to be (mainly) of the first car. Doesn't bode well for my plan to put both bodies on that chassis, hmmmmmm. To really do it RIGHT, I'd have to obtain a Polar Lights chassis (assuming its wheelbase is somewhere in the 115-117" range) and then alter the MPC Cougar body. And then there's the fact that neither the kit nor the Slixx decals would be set up for the altered body. So much for a "quick and easy twofer" build.

On second thought, I guess we're lucky that the other four don't also have their heads buried in their phones.

Yes, it's very close to stock except for the oversized (and possibly repositioned) rear wheel openings. I recently bought (in a junkyard lot) a glue bomb AMT '68 Cougar that's got great glass, interior, and even stock wheels but is missing the hood, grille, taillight panel, and front and rear valences. I'm watching ePay for parts but might end up sacrificing an MPC FC kit for the missing bits. I'm pretty sure they'll fit, or could be made to. How I miss Modelhaus!

I think Testor reformulated their chrome silver some years back. It actually seems to dry now. But I use very little of it, because a Silver Sharpie will do almost anything Testor Silver will do faster, easier, and look at least as good.

Hmmmm, dunno. Found a couple fairly good profiles of the Rupp & Steffey car (which became the first Eliminator Cougar). What do you think? Looks to me like the rear wheel openings have been extended rearward a bit, but I'll have to compare these with good stock Cougar pics to tell what's going on.....

Looks great! That paint is a passable match for '67 Marina Blue. Rear end too low? If anything, it looks a bit high to me, not that that's a BAD thing. (Better that than too low.) Well done and model on!

And don't forget, there was a million dollars worth of gold in the trunk of the Lincoln, and gold at that time was priced at about $35 an ounce--so do the math on THAT weight. -

I know that many if not all of the original Frog molds ended up in Russia--I forget the brand name they were sold under then. These might in fact be the same molds! ETA: Did the homework and apparently this IS the Frog kit! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/frog-f173f-bleriot-xi--162356 -
Best rattlecan gloss black I've ever seen is Model Master Classic Black enamel. I've never seen a bad paint job with the stuff. Its only drawback is that it can take a couple weeks to thoroughly dry/cure.

A selfie girl? Suddenly I'm no longer interested in any of these people.

Love that Cyclone, and the '64 Chev is also pretty sharp! Well done and model on!

Of course I remember your outstanding build! Have even referred to it several times in the last couple days. The problem is that your solution of moving the rear axle back to stretch the wheelbase won't work for me, as I want to ALSO use the Cougar body on the chassis. Maybe the Cougar wheelbase needs to be stretched--my next step is to research this and see if I can find out what the wheelbase of the (funnycar) Cougars was, or if DN had a special stretched Cougar body made to accomodate the E2 chassis, or what.......

Very cool! I got an email from my favorite diecast vendor the other day about them. I want one, but not enough to order it special--I'll wait till they show up at Walmart.

Very clean build, and the brown color really suits it. Well done and model on!
