Our previous high was 9 completions in Round 1. So who wants to do it again? Round 8 now forming....
  2. Stopped by TWO HLs this morning. No '67 Impala 4D at either of them. So I bought a can of Krylon Satin Nickel, which is about the closest thing to flat aluminum in a spray can I can find anymore. I used it the other day on an intake manifold, and then topped with satin clear, it gave me almost the look I was going for. How I miss Pactra Flat Aluminum and Flat Steel!
  3. Chevy Engine Red is WAY too intense/vibrant for the car in the photo. Agree with you that Competition Orange is too orange. I'm wondering if the car isn't original '57 Chevy Matador Red, which has an orange cast in it to my eye. If so, MCW paints would be the way to go.
  4. That looks like Testor/Model Master Italian Red. Grab a can or two of it now while you still can.
  5. That wasn't uncommon for kits of that day. You just kind of slide it in on the driveshaft, sees what hits the chassis where, and put a spot of cement there. In many/most cases, this will be the front part of the oil pan resting on top of the frame crossmember and I think that's probably the case with this kit. Hope this helps.
  6. Well there's a few more things I'd like to do, and a few tweaks I need to make, but by the legal standards of BOYD, I'm declaring the Mustang Street Freak DONE! NINTH COMPLETION GOTTER DONE! I'll have to check the records but I think 9 completions might be a BOYD record. And it's still a couple hours till midnight! So if you're still trying, GITTER DONE!
  7. You gotta love a rusty, dented Vette!
  8. Sounds like you got a $27 lesson called "Do Your Homework." Looks at the bright side: Many people have paid a LOT more than $27 to learn that.
  9. True in most cases, but the '69 Yenkos were pretty much standardized. About all Yenko did to the Camaros, for example, was add decals and emblems, and in many cases the Atlas wheels. Everything else came right from the factory under COPOs 9561 and 9737.
  10. I don't believe it did. That seems to be an afterthought add-on. Just google-imaged and every one I saw with that spoiler was a picture of that specific car.
  11. Very very nice, Gwolf! I've got you logged as our EIGHTH COMPLETION! GOTTER DONE! We're doing better than Round 6, with only 5 completions, and Round 5, with 6. I'm still hoping to get my Mustang finished today, but can't promise that I'll have a photo up today. Drive on, everyone! GITTER DONE!
  12. Very funny guy, great on the Dick Van Dyke show as Alan Brady.
  13. Just did a quick ref check, couldn't find one Yenko Chevelle with the standard 14" Magnum 500s. They all seemed to have either the 15x7 Rallys (included with COPO 9737) or Atlas mags (American TT knockoffs).
  14. Airplanes have been hauled out of both the Pacific and the Great Lakes, having been there since WWII, and restored to fly again. And at least a couple out of European lakes, too, come to think of it.
  15. All you need to do one would be the decals from a Yenko Camaro, air cleaner decals, and possibly wheels. And it's possible Yenko set some loose with the standard Magnum 500 wheels, I just can't remember specifically seeing one that way, I'd have to recheck refs. Oh yeah, you'll need to remove all the SS emblems, but that's not a huge deal.
  16. Thanks all. Still trying to wrestle it to the ground, it is fighting me every inch of the way. Hoping to get it finished tomorrow. The body's now fully polished and the chassis is fully assembled. Just needs body chrome and details, a few interior details, and final assembly. Wish me luck!
  17. I wasn't planning on starting soon, but could if you were planning to. AFAIK, the plastic in all the recent reissues of the MPC Cougar FC is the same, only difference is the decals and maybe tires. Maybe Mark knows more. BTW, I haven't checked the wheelbase of the Cougar FC body vs the stock Cyclone body. Maybe I need to do that to see if it's even feasible. I do know that the real Eliminator II had a stock wheelbase of 116".
  18. Simple: So they can bring out a "Special Edition" with figures (and a higher $ tag) later, of course! And they can sell them all AGAIN!
  19. You just reminded me of The Lovely Mrs. Snake's standard answer to any question about why anyone or any origanization, institution, etc., did anything I don't consider to be optimal, logical, or just generally good: "Just to p___ you off!
  20. And 4-doors.
  21. Fabulous, and it looks fine! I've noted you on my external list as this round's SEVENTH COMPLETION. Wow, we're doing better than I thought! I finished polishing out the Mustang body today. Not much else to do to the body except Silver Sharpie the window trim and add the head and taillights. Got some final painting and detailing of the chassis and engine to do, and then it's just final assembly. I SHOULD make the Tuesday deadline. Model on, everyone! GITTER DONE!
  22. Very cool in School Bus Yellow. That would be the coolest school bus in the world! Well done and model on!
  23. Are you going to do a Workbench thread on it as you work? If so, would you consider a "dual build" with me? It might be fun to watch two different modelers tackle the same subject at the same time in different ways.
  24. Spottedlaurel, it looks like you'd be a good candidate for the next round of the Bring Out Your Dead Completion Build, which will be starting next week if there's enough interest.
