  1. Very, VERY nice!
  2. If you're looking for large-diameter versions of ARE Torq-Thrusts, some versions of the Revell snapper '63 Vette roadster have them. And their snapper '57 Chevy has these large-diameter Halibrand-ish wheels, which I believe American actually makes.
  3. Very nice! Mine won't look that good, as it's just going to be a restoration/freshening up of someone else's old build...assuming that the paint's really in as good shape as my quick look a couple weeks ago seemed to indicate....
  4. I'm not a fan of this kit but there's no denying you did a great job with it and your finish is breathtaking. As David Letterman used to say about some performance he enjoyed, "You got all of that one, my friend!"
  5. Very, very nice indeed! Love the color and you got a great finish! About the only change I'd make would be to paint the spokes of the wheels with a flat silver, dark steel, or maybe even semigloss black.
  6. I wouldn't worry about them, because the 2LB Chevy is a sedan and this model is a hardtop with completely different rear quarters and roof, so you can't make an accurate model of the 2LB car out of it anyway. Use the closest wheels you can find, or whatever kind of wheels suits your mood, and drive on with a "2LB-ish" or "2LB-inspired" build. And while you're at it, don't be afraid to change anything else you want to "make it your own." I'm doing exactly that with a '55 build, making it the way I want it to look but with obvious heavy 2LB flavor or inspiration. BTW, if I'm not mistaken, those wheels are just called "Daisies." I think "daisy cutter" is a term referring to some type of bomb. If I'm wrong about that, I'm sure someone will correct me.
  7. Nice. Silver is absolutely one of the hardest paint jobs to do.
  8. I just got back from HL. They don't have MM BRG in either bottle or can anymore, nor '69 Chev Fathom Green, either. No dark green Testor sprays of any kind, though they did have a dark green "pearl" in the bottles you might want to at least look at. Don't even waste your time looking at Michaels' or AC Moore for these. They only have the most basic Testor selections, the rack that USED to be in drugstores when I was a kid.
  9. Thanks to you, I now know for a FACT that there are none at MY local Michaels. Thought there was one for a second, but it was a new-box '32 kit. They didn't have anything else I wanted, either, even with a 40% off coupon. Oh well. On the way, I DID see a real restored '66 Vette roadster, 427, side pipes, on polished Torq-Thrusts, so the trip wasn't a COMPLETE waste of time.
  10. Not bad at all for a first try! Scares me to think you'll get BETTER! Maybe I should retire.....
  11. Going between Michael's and Hobby Lobby, what should pull up next to me at the light but a beautifully restored silver '66 Vette roadster, 427, side pipes, on polished Torq-Thrusts! I told the guy I don't think I'd ever seen an actual '65-'66 big block hood in real life before. He loved the attention (of course!). And then, not 10 minutes later, saw a nice restored silver Avanti! I can go for MONTHS without seeing one car half as cool as either one of these...and then BOTH on the same day!
  12. We like exciting stuff. Go to any airport, how many Cessnas and Pipers and Beechcrafts do you see? Lots. How many Corsairs and P-51 Mustangs and Sabre Jets and Phantoms do you see? Probably, NONE. Now go to your hobby shop. How many Cessnas, Pipers, and Beechcrafts are on the shelves? If it's a well-stocked shop, you might find one or two. How many Corsairs, Mustangs, Phantoms, F-16? You can have your choice of scale, exact variant, even price point. We like exciting stuff. My Mom's old '74 Buick LeSabre just don't spin my windmill.
  13. I saw some discussion here or elsewhere not long ago on "British Racing Green." I think the final conclusion was that there is no ONE "official" BRG, and there have been many shades and types of dark green used on various cars (street and race) through the ages. So either pick a particular reference you want to match, or just buy or mix up whatever looks "right" to you for what you're doing. Don't forget to check out Krylon, Rustoleum, etc paints for generic dark greens. They all have some shade of "Hunter Green," "Leaf Green," and so forth in their lines--something on those racks might catch your eye as satisfactory.
  14. Wow! I thought the first picture was a real car you were using for inspiration. When you can fool me like that, that's a MODEL!
  15. I've had excellent results airbrushing the Model Master BRG. It's metallic. If you want a non-metallic version, start with common Testor "little bottle" bright green and add gloss black until you get the shade you want. This also airbrushes quite well.
  16. Very, VERY nice! I'm really beginning to LOVE these modern simple snappers. Model on!
  17. Very cool! The original '63 roadster was the only version of this family (except for the rare THE Cat '67 TV car) that had working rotating headlights. I've only turned up one of these. I managed to get the glued-in headlights worked loose, and the windshield frame is in great shape, but much of the rest of the body, not so much. Not sure how I'm gonna proceed with that one yet. I only have one of the chrome headlight inserts--forgot to order some from Modelhaus--but I think I can either foil-clone or sili-clone it for the other side. '63 to '64 roadster conversion isn't bad. The differences are in the rocker panels, the gas cap emblem, and the upholstery, but those problems are all solvable if you want--or just ignored and most people won't know the difference if you've got '64 hood and wheel covers on it. . Here's a '64 roadster in the Snakepit. The body's real nice except for the excessively glued-in windshield--that and all the surrounding styrene will probably have to be replaced. This one's pretty far down my To-Do list; I have at least four or five '65-'66 roadsters and a couple of '66 coupes in line ahead of it.

    1928 pickup

Dunno how I missed this till now, but wow, what a great build! You can really be proud of this one!
  19. That's really looking nice! Drive on!
  20. I bought several sets of their redline tires, and even used some. I think I used them on my '68 Road Runner. As I recall, they were of a nice size and worked well. I think I'm still carefully hoarding a few set somewhere in the bowels of the Snakepit, but don't ask me where they are, much less if I want to part with any of them!
  21. Yes, and that was the ONLY issue I know of that ever had it. It also had an all-clear top. Neither has to the best of my knowledge ever been reissued, though it's possible the molds still exist. I have one of the wagons in the Snakepit, but it hasn't risen far enough up to To-Do list to warrant an appearance here quite yet. But keep watching--who knows when the mood will strike me to drag that thing out and kick it across the finish line!
  22. Oh, that's cool! What's the paint and color on the '69 GTX? That's the color I want to use on mine.
  23. Hence the wisdom in my sig line!
  24. And haven't I seen all of those in big piles, heavily discounted, at Ollie's?
  25. But now you can make it better...stronger...faster....
