  1. AMT did a 1/25 '67 Z28 that, if not currently in production, isn't rare at all and should be fairly cheap. It's a fairly decent kit, especially if you apply the little tweaks I describe in a tutorial in the Tips section here. There's also a metal-body '68 Z kit (I think by Testor) that's pretty nice. Oh, AMT did '68 Z, too, which is on the shelves now, but you mentioned a preference for '67. If you must have a more detailed chassis/engine, you can use those units from Revell's '69 Z. Be advised that the Revell dual-quad induction will not fit under the flat (non-CI) hood--not with the air cleaner on, anyway. ETA: Out of curiosity, I just google-fu'ed the particular Jodiemobile you reference. It's a '68, not a '67, and has Style Trim Group (though not RS), rear spoiler (optional, not standard in '68), and a '69 Cowl Induction hood (available in the Revell '69 kit). Seems to be riding on Chevy Rally Wheels (possibly 15x7--they look pretty good size) with '67 center caps. That's about all I could tell from the 2-3 seconds I got on you2be.
  2. No doubt, it was said by someone who only had TWO of it.
  3. No, it was the one with the pink one on the box. It had the dropped front axle, but unplated. I don't remember if it had the Nomad's Hilborn FI or not, and I can't locate my example of the kit at the moment. I seem to recall that the Centerline-type wheels were unplated, too. IIRC I used these on my primer '68 Camaro, and I had to paint them silver.
  4. Best tip on here I've ever seen. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80880
  5. Now that you mention unplated, I seem to remember it that way too.
  6. I could have sworn that my copy of the "street machine" version of the '55 Bel Air had the Nomad dropped beam front axle. Will have to try to check it when I get home.
  7. Krylon makes a "Dull Aluminum" that might work for you. I don't like it as much as I did the old Pactra Flat Aluminum in the bottles, but it's okay for some uses.
  8. True Dat, and also flea markets and thrift shops. If you spot anything that looks "rare-ish" at a bargain price, grab it up--even if you're not interested in it, you can prolly find someone who is, and work a profitable trade. What I do for rare or long-OOP kits is buy restorable "glue bombs" off eBay for reasonable prices. Very satisfying to bring one of these poor backbirths back from Rick Grimesville.
  9. The voice I'd compare Zevon's to the most is John Kay of Steppenwolf.
  10. You can still buy that Lindberg X-3, though not for 50 cents. It's not a HORRIBLE kit, considering its age. Very little in the way of internal detail, but the shape isn't bad at all. I have one I'm planning to build sooner or later.
  11. Zevon's voice is an acquired taste.
  12. Agree if you mean the snapper. The full kit has some rather tricky assembly glitches.
  13. Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders. Amazing the trivia the mind will retain.
  14. Can't argue with that. Here's my own interpretation of the kit.
  15. Or one of my favorite term from the Firefly 'verse: Backbirth.
  16. Very cool!
  17. It looks like correcting involves slimming the C-pillars and then moving them forward about three inches.
  18. BEAUTIFUL! All you'd have to do to make this an A-grade model is hit those wheels with some black or flat gray paint. Well done and model on!
  19. It's not the wire itself, it's the forming of the special bends in it--or whatever. As I said, this is just rumor--talk over in Model Airplane World. I wish they'd reissue that set. I'd love to have one.
  20. That's Asia, but I don't know the title.
  21. Very, VERY nice, and something you don't see every day. Model on!
  22. Keep in mind that a lot of what we call "chrome" trim on real cars wasn't chrome at all, but brushed or polished aluminum or stainless steel.
  23. Forget that idea. The roof is very wrong on the PL '64--no way it would meet your standards once you see the discrepancy. Very soon I should be posting some pics showing just what the problem is.
  24. Blue Bayou, Living in the USA, Simple Man Simple Dream, Mad Love, Allison...and on and on. Carmelita was a big hit for her? Funny, not in my area. (Although it must be Zevon's most-covered song. I bet I have recordings of four or five different artists covering it--which baffles me. It's a good song, but not IMHO a GREAT song. Zevon wrote many much, much better tunes that most people have never heard.)
  25. You sometimes have to test with Rustoleum, Krylon, etc. Some of them come right off with rubbing alcohol. Others require a lye-based stripper, or even brake fluid.
