  1. Yes, that will show. Paint never hides anything. Hit that area, right on top of the primer, with superglue. Let it dry, then block-sand it flush. Reprime. If you still see it (and if you do this right, you shouldn't), repeat. I usually now use superglue to "seal" any putty work, as it will not shrink over time. (Superglue Gel makes a darn fine putty itsownself.)
  2. My views on this are very similar to yours. If it's a solid color, I usually won't clearcoat. Metalic or metalflake, usually I will, though there are a VERY few metallic paints I've learned can be polished out without ruining them. Lately I've even been trying to get a subtle, factory-like orange peel in the finish of factory stock builds. That's actually harder than getting a high-gloss "showcar" shine, and almost no one who sees it appreciates it until you explain it to them--and sometimes not even then. Ah shucks oh well.
  3. Maybe, maybe not, but the question was what Galaxie kits had it.
  4. I polished this completely roached blue Javelin body (and glass) largely with them. Came out pretty well, wouldn't you say?
  5. Dunno, never tried. I clean them by rubbing on a piece of carpet. They're so cheap, I never thought of trying to wash them. I consider them disposable/consumable, like paint.
  6. I think this article on the MM Fiat is about all the resource anyone would need to model that car. I haven't seen many cars photographed better for the modeler. Outstanding article and art! I'm in the middle of the Wally Booth article now--more good stuff, including some good info on Da Grump I hadn't read before.
  7. VERY realistic wreathing/rust work on that one!
  8. I've now used the new TRIM sticks and they work at least as well as the gray ones. Polishing up a red '70 Corvette. Sweet!
  9. I'm pretty sure the '69 did too. I'll try to remember to look at it later.
  10. Very good. When all areas of their site came up later, I found a BUNCH of stuff I can use. I wish they'd organize their Restoration Parts section. Seem to have some good stuff but it's just too hard to find your needles in that haystack.
  11. I swear I'm going to convert a Funnyhugger body back to stock. It has a better '69 Rally Sport front end than the Revell kit.
  12. I think that was in the days before the makers started "licensing" stuff.
  13. Dunno, but check out the other Fiat at the bottom of page 27. It's got a stretched front end like the AMT Double Dragster kit body--you could easily build it from the DD kit, if you knew the color.
  14. Since it looks like you're interested in detail, I'll mention one mod you need to make to the Revell body if you want to be accurate. It's molded with the chrome wheel opening trim, but no trim on the fake "vents" ahead of the rear wheels. This is incorrect. Those two items always came together, either as part of Rally Sport or Style Trim Group (which was included in Rally Sport). Take the wheel opening trim off, or if you're doing the car as a Rally Sport (or want to retain the wheel opening trim), add the vent trim.
  15. I have a "hot pink" Cobra, I think. Somewhere. If this is anyone's "holy grail" kit, I could prolly be talked/traded out of it.
  16. Huh. I looked at this last night and found some stuff I was interested in, now the website "can't be found." Hope it's just a temporary server issue, or something. ETA: Seems to be back up now. Anyone dealt with them? Prices seem reasonable, but how's their shipping/delivery time?
  17. Absolutely outstanding model! Very well done!
  18. After a too-long absence, the TRIM 3-pack of fingernail sticks (Clean, Condition, Shine) are back at Walmart. These are one of the best things I've ever used for polishing plastic, including clear plastic, and they're much cheaper than the stuff at hobby shops. The old ones were dark gray, white, and medium gray. The new ones are dark gray, blue, and purple. I hope/assume they'll work the same as the old ones. If they don't, I'll come back here and so post.
  19. Just got it at Walmart--Fiat Altered on the cover, lotsa good stuff inside! The next Hot Rod Deluxe should be out in the next week or two--it comes out near the end of odd-numbered months.
  20. My last job, we used many, many 4x8 sheets of .020 and .030 styrene to make templates. I was the template maker. I got permission to take the "scraps" home, and to this day still have maybe eight or ten pounds of the stuff. Anybody who ever trades with me gets some, however much I can stuff into the box or envelope without raising the postage too much. I have more than I'll EVER use for model work, but can't bear the idea of just throwing it out.
  21. I have two of the old Hobbycraft Seafire XV kits. One I'm going to convert to the sexier (IMHO) bubbletop Seafire XVII (basically the same aircraft with a bubble canopy) and the other is getting converted to a Spitfire XII. Now, let's see who here knows Spitfires. What do the Spit XII and the Seafire XV and XVII have in common with each other but not with any other marque of Spitfire?
  22. Most of the Baldwin-Motion cars I've seen used the '67 Corvette "Stinger" type hoods. The only one I've ever seen that used the '68 Corvette "L88" type hood was one '69 Camaro--the one Revell chose to model. I'm planning a couple of phantom B-M builds and I'll be using the Stinger type scoops on all of them.
  23. Very nice work indeed! Beautiful paint job!
  24. Roy Orbison?
