    I had a paint chip on an A-pillar of my model. Primer, color and clear coat came off cleanly in a single chip. I was able to carefully glue the chip back where it came out. This was years ago, but I think used a tiny bit of CA glue. Unless I tell you where to look, you likely won't find it. I really got lucky!

    Nice clean build! I especially like the hood scoop on that year's 'Vette. Do you have and straight-on profile photos? From what I see from the photos you posted it seems that the model sits kind of high on its wheels. It is not something that you did wrong - probably just the way the kit is designed. Or maybe just an optical illusion.

    Well the American corporate management, and share-holders' greed kind of did that to ourselves by outsourcing work to China. But that subject would be for another thread (if politics were allowed here).

    I stop at *ANY* adhesives display in any store! Even in drug stores, or beauty supply shops. I'm addicted to glue! Always looking for some new adhesive that I can use for my hobbies. Yes, the big-box hardware stores have adhesives sections (usually in one of the paint isles) with all sorts of adhesives that can be used in out hobbies.

    Ah, I missed that part. I also have and use epoxy in the smaller metal (toothpaste-type) tubes. Both 5-minute and JB Weld. One can never have enough adhesives! I'm bad! When my GF and I pass by the adhesives section of Home Depot, she rolls her eyes and tells me to look away from the adhesives display.

    Yup, this stuff is great. I always buy the smallest one available (unless I had a large project where I thought I could use the lager quantity) because even at 4.5 oz. it will take me couple years to use it up. And this stuff does thicken in time. Still works but it gets harder to mix. I rather not let it sit that long.

    Mixing CA with RTV rubber will not do what you expect. Use the proper materials Luke! Like Ace and I mentioned, there are urethane (and even RTV) resins which different hardnesses available.

    The BSI epoxy mentioned here is also packaged in 2 bottles.

    Went to eBay. In the search I typed in "stainless steel mesh" (no quotes). 110,912 results for stainless steel mesh. I don't know what size mesh you are looking for, but here for example is a 12" x 36" piece of 100 mesh screen for $13. Shipped from USA. https://www.ebay.com/itm/272400051375 If you include the specific mesh number you are lookign for, you can likely narrow down your search results.

    For small pieces look on eBay for stainless steel pipe or hookah screens. Or just for stainless steel mesh. The larger the mesh number, the finer the screen. 150 is finer than 40 for example.

    Those plugs are there for shipping and long-term storage. Once removed, having the little conical hats covering the spout ends in the caps should be sufficient. I suppose that if you are planning on not using it for extended period of time, you could reinstall those plugs.

    Couple of observations: 1. Who says that scale model tires have to be soft? They can be cast form regular hard urethane resin, then painted to look like rubber. This is often the way tires in military models are done. With the right color and sheen, they often look more like rubber than the standard model car sift vinyl tires. 2. If you really want then soft, Smooth-On has a range of flexible (soft) urethane resins. Or even cast them using one of the harder RTV mold-making materials tinted with black dye. Adding CA to whatever you are using for the tire material doesn't seem like something I would attempt. I don't know why you would even think that would work. You are totally mixing chemistries.

    I enjoyed reading this - very cool story. It is also good to see the Bare Metal Foil still plenty bright after all these years.

    Very nice. And the prepainted body sure saves you all the headaches of applying those gold pinstripe decals! Like Bill said, gold on black is a classy color combination.

    Beautiful model Marko! And plenty of nice touches like drilled head fins, respoked wheels, and the staining on the tire treads, just to mention a few. What is you method for respoking the wheels?

    A perfect example of a model craftsman and their craftsmanship is right here on this forum: Mark Jones is also another great example of a model craftsman. I'm amazed by their work.

    I think that is the exact color that was used on those '90s Impala SS' No wonder it "spoke" to me.

    Um, seems that both dogs did that. I grew up with Scooby, so that is what I remember.

    Sure were! My friend owned one, and Revell made a model of it. IIRC, not 100% accurate, but close.
