Other than praise for continuing your super-detailing of this model I have a question: Since you modeled some slight wear on the pads, will you simulate wear on the rotor's surfaces? I've done this on motorcycle models by painting the rotors dull flat-finish steel color, then chucking the rotor in Dremel and at slow speed rubbing the surface with a piece of cotton cloth (denim). That polished the paint making it look like the brake pads were rubbing against it. The color and sheen of the roto's surface was readily visible.

Tamiya 1/24 Mazda MX-5 Miata NA BRG Edition
peteski replied to Italianhorses's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Top-down convertibles usually have the side windows down anyway. Unless of course it is 40 degrees outside and the occupants are riding with the heat cranked up full blast. Even if the model's glass was scale thickness, it would have looked awkward. it was ruining the lines of the car. -
The shattered clear film on waterside decal is not manufacturer specific - it can happen to any brand decal. Since you already tried using them, there is nothing you can do to get the ones you tried to use back to usable condition. But as Daniel has mentioned, decal with this type of damage can be saved (if the problem is discovered before trying to apply it).

I'll miss the separate Big Boys section. Just like I miss the General Big Rigs section. I hope members will include some mention of the model scale in the thread titles in both WIP and Under Glass sections so I can have some hope to be able to easily find the large scale models. But seeing how truck conversations got totally drowned by general (and often silly, IMO) chatter in the General General section, I don't have much hope that Big Boys models will be easy to find.

The issues with scratch building
peteski replied to IbuildScaleModels's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Another popular abbreviation is "CA" glue. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate for more details. To be honest I don't even know why "ACC" is used for "Aceto-cyano-acrylate", but it sometimes is. If anything, it should be "ACA" not "ACC". I just call it "CA glue". I guess it is like the blanket statement that "acrylic" automatically means water-based paints, when in fact there are many organic-solvent-based acrylic paints. Some modelers started the trend, and it proliferated the hobby circuit. -
I don't use a not-so-schmart phone. I'm often logged in to the forum concurrently from multiple computers (Windows PCs) and stay logged in for days or weeks. I don't ever seem to get kicked off. If I want to logoff I have to left-click on my user name in the upper right cornet and click on "Sign Out". Sorry to say that Ron, but it seems that the problem seems to be on your end. Maybe your web browser is acting up, or maybe your password manager is flipping out? I can't help with that. Or maybe your phone/browser got infected by some sort of malware and it is messing up your access to this forum. Do you have another device (preferably a computer, not a phone) to and login from there?

Ok, so this is a sign-on (not a posting) problem. That is strange, especially that email warning. Maybe someone else (hacker?) created another user account here using your email address, and the forum software is not happy. That is something that (now that we have more details of the problem) hopefully the forum admins can look into.

Small Hatchback like car bodies
peteski replied to Gumball's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I wouldn't expect to find any of those model Fiats anywhere in North America, unless someone imported one as a vintage curiosity. These were produced 40-50 years ago. At least the 126 and 127. -

While I don't have any direct experience with Vallejo Chrome, all Vallejo paints are water-based acrylic enamels, so I wouldn't be surprised if Chrome paint does not have strong solvent odor. It will probably smell like their other paints.

How does password problem prevent you from posting? Does the forum (for no reason) kick you out from your account, or does it still show you as being logged in (do you see your name and link to your profile in the upper right corner of the website)? Why do you have to change the password?!?!?! The old password fails to log you in, and you have to use the password reset procedure? What exactly happens when you try to post a massage? Does the text window show up on the bottom of your screen? Can you type in there? Does the problem show up when you hit "Submit Reply" button? More details about the problem would be helpful to the moderators.

Small Hatchback like car bodies

I learned something new! Back in the day Fiat licensed production of their cars to many countries all over the world. Polish versions had a "p" suffix in their model number. -

Growing up in Poland I seen plenty of Fiat 126s and 127s, but never heard of a Fiat 147. Both 126 and 127 have similar appearance, with 127 being a larger car. -
Ah, the manssiere.

A different kind of plastic model...1/8 scale LEGO Bugatti Chiron
peteski replied to Hotrod 97's topic in Model Cars
Over 3000 pieces? Wow! That sure is different kind of model. It has an industrial/mechanical/robotic kind of a look. Not a scale model as such, but more of a representation of the general shape of the real car, with some small details thrown in (like the logos and scripts). It is more like an impressionistic sculpture. I have to say, it is not my thing, but it is cool in its own way. -

Revell to Repop the Will do wrecker !
peteski replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
This I couldn't resist: Can-Do Wrecker (plastic kit, not the real thing) listed for a measly $44,999.00 US dollars. But they do take Best Offers. While I'm pretty sure it was a price typo, it was still entertaining to see this price on that model. I wonder is someone will contact the seller to let them know? I'm not going to spoil the fun. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254585829830 There is also another kit listed for a bargain price of $1,299,99 Canadian, and I don't think it's a typo. What a bargain! https://www.ebay.com/itm/402258304733 -
I also follow this thread in amazement, and I was also surprised to see it here, especially since there is also a "Big Boys" WIP section after the forum was reshuffled.

Tamiya 1/24 Mazda MX-5 Miata NA BRG Edition
peteski replied to Italianhorses's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love the color and the super shiny paint! I agree with Eric that when the headlights are up, the car looks strange. I guess froglike is a good description. They probably ruin its aerodynamics too. My GF owned a Miata before I met her. The M-edition, Merlot Mica paint, BBS wheels, and tan leather interior. I promised to build a model of her car. That was about 20 years ago, and the modal is barely started. I had good intentions. I bought the paint, found the BBS wheels, and even eteched the emblems in nickel silver. But then the projects stalled. I have too many started projects, and I must have a bit of AD, becuase "oh look, a new kit - gotta start that one" syndrome. I like the body lines on the Tamiya kit better than the Revell Miata. But the Revell kit has full engine details. Who knows, I might do a kitbash of the Tamiya and Revell to have a full-engine Tamiya model. -

Nice model Rooster, but I like the chrome on the 1:1 bike better. -

Yeah, that little plane looks great - lots of detail. Looks like it was build by a pro. I guess you do well, even out of your comfort zone! -
What did you see on the road today?
peteski replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What I find amusing is the juxtaposition of the Yugo next to the Mercedes, all on the same transporter. And note that this is not just a Yugo - it is a SPORT Yugo! I also can't remember the last time I have seen a Yugo anywhere. I think it was about 20 years ago at my local junkyard (um, "used car parts dealer"). -
Nice and unusual project! Too bad it is a panel van, but it will look good with the decal "windows" on it.
