I've hit a small problem with my progress on the cage. I was well on with one side only to run out of the rod. I was certain I had another pack of it but when i pulled it out it was a smaller diameter so I've ordered a load more and hopefully it doesn't take long to arrive. This is as far as I got today

you can switch between brands using the drop box at the bottom of the laft side
-
I might have to get one of these, just because the box art is kinda cool. I'd probably just slam it and give it a light weathering but otherwise stock

Today I made a few mods to the dash so i can get working on improving the cage. There were some switches but they had a lot of flash and a sinkmark in the middle, so to rectify this i filed the entire panel flat and used some rod and tubeto add them back. I've left them long until the glue sets and will be cutting them down. I also had the problem of no decals for the gagues so I've cut down a sun visor tv to fit and will be using any decals I find in the leftovers box. The modded sun visor is in both pics. I will also be adding one to the passenger side with other decals.
Next I looked at the rear suspension and while basic it will do the job, however I made a connecting rod and found some better shocks (currently in paint). There was a big open hole above the axle so it is going to be a massive fuel tank
For the frone suspension I had to make some heavy cuts to make the engine sit low enough
Next I turned to cooling cos a turbo this size will get hot. I'm using a hobby design intercooler and the rad from an alfa. To get the intercooler and rad to fit with a little room for moving parts I had to make a drastic cut to the front panel. Hopefully I will be able to hide it somewhat with the mesh

Some kit recommendations for euro cars.
the tamiya new beetle is nice. it doesn't come with an engine but there are vr6 engines on ebay to fit it.
revell mk2 golf comes in a few variations. I would recommend the us boxing with2 cars on the box as it has a reiger body kit included. also if you want to do a late model with the big bumpers scaleproduction do the bumpers
fujimi mk3 and 5 golfs are curbside but they have an engine plate in the mk3. the mk5 are curbside
tamiya mk4 golf. can be hard to find and expensive but a nice kit all the same
fujimi mk2 golf curbside and it looks chopped, has the wrong wheels but handy for race liverires
amt mk1 scirocco, really nice but needs some extra work in the engine bay but may look small next the rest
fujimi audi 80 curbside again but nice enough for what it is
tamiya audi quattro available in race and rally with engines.
italeri audi quattro race only but not bad. curbside again
revell audi r8 v8 coupe and v10 roadster kinda simplified but builds up well.
belkits skoda fabia and vw polo are both very nice kits but are curbside but theres enough detail you wont notice the lack of engine
beemax/nunu/aoshima audi UR Quattro very nice kit but agina curbside like above. Theres a new version on the way that is more like the road version but again no engine
nunu audi r8 race car curbside but should be a nice kit
imai mk1 scirocco very basic, more toy than model and not near as nice as the amt, but its 1/24 scale and will need a lot of work. I'm thinking to use a mk1 golf to build it with more detail

So yesterday I sat down with the uscp-ua cossie engine and what a piece of kit it is. Now while its a very nice engine I had to fit a much bigger turbo
to help it embarass the other competitors v8s (I'm building it for the mcm cannonball) I used an hks turbo from hobby design but I left the stock manifolds. Theres not much roon left in the bay but i've made a little more by trimming theside of the bay and moving it back so it sits square now. I also modded the slam panel above it to match. Nwxt up willbe sorting the front suspension crossmember to fit the engine. Its pretty deep so it should just be a flattening of the centre. The blue painted parts will be getting some metaliser powders used and should go steel colour then -
I just use duplicolour flat black, but once its dry i rub my fingers through my hair then use the natural skin oils to give it the sheen of rubber. I do the same to bring up floor detail n chassis

It works the same as the paints do, just use your usual primer and clear you use with it normally. Bear in mind I'm in the uk so our duplicolour might be a different formula than yours

Stripped the paint from an original monogram 40 pickup only to find it is perfect underneath the paint, not even a light sanding to any of it, and nothing had been scraped for glung so theres only a couple of tiny glue damaged areas where the rear fenders mount.

Nope, I really dont have 6 of the hasegawa/revell t1 buses, honest or 3 69 chargers

iceman collections on ebay do a very nice modern style supercharger

I think they're just trying to get people that dont use/want paypal to buy on the site. I have noticed paypal doesn't work with some newer business sellers

Great set of racers and haulers

Aw man, you guys are flying ahead. This afternoon I pulled out the escort and tried the stock interior only to find its little use with out removing a lot of the race stuff so instead I pulled a pair of more comfortable recaro style seats out of the spares box. and glued the backs on as its a long drive in a race seat.
Next I pulledout the uscp cossie engine to see what needed to be changed which led to cutting the gearstick mount from the centre hump and a bit of filing underneath so it wasn't hanging down too much
I then turned my attention to the engine bay and its fit to the body. Turned out the fit left a gap at the sides and front so I used some angle strips to lose the gaps so that now it snaps in place and most likely wont need glue to hold the chassis in place
after this I tried the lower sppoiler in place only to find the chassis wouldn't let it sit where it should so I ground the front of the chassis at an angle so now the spoiler fits where it should
It will need a little filler later but for now the chassis is fitting without interfering with any of the body. Next I turned my attention to the front crossmember. I'll be giving it a lower stance so to enable this I put a couple of small extensions on the strut mounts and I'll be drilling them out once the glue sets.
Now because I'm using a bigger set of rims I needed to do something about the brakes. After searching through my leftovers I found a set of corvette brakes that fit inside the rims but the calipers were hitting the back of the wheels, and they lacked any sort of hub detail so to fix this I cut a couple of squares from some styrene and drilled a hole in the centre. I then used my dremell cut of wheels mount to hold them together while I got them to size on a sanding pad. They wont really be seen but without them the wheels would have sat at a funny angle so this fixed that

you could try motobitz in the uk, they make some transkits for the mini and might have other parts. I know they have parts for the belkits mk1 escorts so it wouldn't surprise me if they had rally parts for the mini

I wouldn't do to much to the box, just get it back so it will hold the inner but state in the listing that the box is damaged and include pics of it. I would still list it as no box due to it being damaged. More pics is always good in a listing and if theres any scratches or damage be sure to include pics of it and mention it also in the listing. Dont be surprised if it gets a few watchers but no bids until near the end, ford guys can be pretty tight in the uk, lol

The pinto is also the basis of the cosworth turbo engines. If you have a pinto engine with 200 or 205 stamped on the block you have one of the better blocks. It was also used in the sierras in both carb, injected and turbo versions. In the uk we still tune the bejesus out of them and 550bhp isn't out of the ballpark, or up to 350bhp on stock internals. They can be tuned to much more but they lose reliability then. Severn valley motorsport put one of the cossies in an rs200 to take to pikes peak during the 90s but i'm not sure if they made to washington or not, but it was a impressive piece of rebuilding being fully carbon bodied and 950 bhp to all 4 wheels.

It depends on the rarity, but since you're in the uk and its a fast ford you could get more than you expect for it. I would list it on ebay towards the beginning of feb and make sure to list the scale and brand. January isn't very good for getting good prices. If you use ford and rs500 as seperate tags you'll get more hits on it, and a low starting price might help too, but be sure to have a reserve near what you want to get. Also when it sells be sure to pack it well as some buyers aren't very fair when it comes to condition received and will try to claim something back. Maybe filming yourself packing it and writing the address could offer you some protection from that. Looking at ebay there a burago with 3 days to go currently at £36 but the majority are around £60 and up with boxes.
