Little bit of an update. I got a lot of the chassis done, just the exhaust left to do, it's drying at the moment.
The kit is going together well, other than the engine not quite wanting to fit onto the subframe, but I got it. I broke one of the valve covers right in half, hopefully it isn't too noticeable. And I was hoping for more of an "overspray" look for the chassis, it seems I was a little heavy on the paint. Oh well.
And I just found out that I have to be at work at 5:30 tomorrow morning, so that's all the modeling for tonight!

This one is going to be red obviously, can't decide on an all black interior or black and tan.
I'm wondering about the front turn signals as well.. Not sure how to accomplish that haha.

Haven't done much building for quite a while, I'm sure y'all know how life gets in the way haha. I pulled this kit out of the cabinet and decided to give it a go. It seems so far like it will be a fairly straight forward build, we shall see!
I decided not to do the pace car version, but just go with a standard red one. "Fire Storm" is the name of the color from 1991. For whatever reason, I really enjoy models of common, everyday "malaise" type cars haha.

Got the chassis painted today and body primed, as well as the main part of the engine. It's too cold to be painting, but I'm doing it anyway lol.

Progress is slow!
Got the chassis mostly done, ready to fit the engine. I test fit the body, everything is looking good!

Haha really? I'm not very far into it obviously, but I will report back any issues I find with it.
Anything specific you've heard, other than the usual final fitment issues?

Blue Ferraris are the best! Nice build, the gold wheels are a nice touch.

No it's a smooth roof. I didn't know they did a textured roof. Was it like a vinyl roof, or stainless like the Eldorado Brougham?

Got the main part of the engine put together today. It ended up being a little humid to paint, got a bit of a crackle finish lol. But i actually think it looks alright! I'm going to let it sit overnight and then give it a final coat tomorrow.

Hey everybody! It's been quite a while since I've posted on here. I'm trying to get back into this side of the hobby, really excited about it actually.
I picked up this Revell 1959 Cadillac to get me going again! Hopefully it'll turn out decently well.

Well, I'm remembering what made me quit the hobby a few years ago. Final assembly...
The body doesn't sit on the chassis flush, not even close. There's a good quarter inch gap pretty much all the way around it.
And 3 of the 4 corners suspension collapsed again when I tried to put everything together finally... What gives??? Anybody have a magic trick that will make this all work? Luckily the suspension sits somewhat correctly if you just don't touch it. Not to mention how I ruined the side windows with the wrong type of glue.

Got the wheels on, and the entire left front suspension collapsed when the weight was placed on the wheels LOL.
So I attacked it with some more glue and hope it'll hold!

A couple of updates for you guys today. I decided to try a Krylon acrylic clearcoat I've had good luck with on my Matchboxes, and it looks good here too! I applied a couple light coats, and applied the decals for the body. Waiting for them to set up, then will do a final coat of clear.

It's looking great so far! I tend to not be a huge fan of modern Ferraris, but this one is turning into something pretty sexy...

Oh yes yes I know all about Future. It's wonderful stuff!!! I use it on widows for all my Matchbox restorations.
I'll play around with it, maybe airbrush on a light coat, then decals, then another couple light coats.

Well, the runway was too icy to fly this morning, so I came back home. Got the exhaust fitted.
And I used a bit too much force trying to get the rear wheels on, and broke the rear axle!! Ughhhh. I'm going away for a week starting tomorrow, so I'll deal with that when I get home.
