After a week of lurking, I decided to bite the bullet and join this wonderful forum. I am blown away by the fine work you are all doing. I haven't built a car model in at least 40 years, but I have started one recently and will be posting my progress soon. It isn't nearly as detailed as what I've seen here, but we all have to (re)start somewhere. Collectively, you are my inspiration. I am particularly interested in the "Golden Age" of drag racing. To me that means the '50's and 60's.
In addition to the model I am working on, I just bought a restoration project on eBay, and I'm hopng someone may have information about the model. It's a twin engined dragster from the very early 60's I would guess. Engines are side by side Chevys, with front mounted blowers. The engines and frame ahead of the cowling look a lot like Dode Martin's "The Two Thing", but the rollcage more closely resembles Tommy Ivo's early twin Buick engined injected dragster. Does anyone know
1). Who the manufacturer was and 2). Is it a model of an actual car, or just a representation of generic twin engined dragsters of the period. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I haven't received the model in the mail yet, but here's the eBay photos:
Also, if anyone has any dissasembly and restoration tips other that "be really careful" I'd love to hear them.
My thanks in advance.
