Hello all, My name is Calvin. I'm new to the site but not to model cars and trucks. I built for the better part of 10 years prior to going to college. I did the college thing for 5 years and got 2 degrees, a Bachelors in Environmental Science from the university of Pittsburgh and an Associates in HVAC/R Technology from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. At that point, I decided that I needed to get out of Pennsylvania for a while. I had always had the idea of enlisting in the military, so after the lengthy process of picking a rate and enlisting, I sit here now in Nuclear Field A-School, training to become a reactor operator for the U.S. Navy. I am rated as Machinist Mate and am Submarine volunteer, so those are my plans for at least the next 6 years. I am from rural Pennsylvania (McKean County) originally but am now stationed in Charleston, SC until at least next summer. Unfortunately, building won't be an option until at least next fall. But I will hopefully have rebuilt my stash by then (had to sell my old stash to get through college). I like to build big trucks. Spent a lot of life around people in the forestry, construction and oil and gas businesses. I also spent a lot of time helping them work on their trucks, so I kind of grew attached to that kind of stuff, particularly vocational trucks. A lot of them were old Macks and Kenworths, so I have a soft spot for those. I am looking forward to meeting you all and learning new things. I have browsed the forums a lot and finally decided to join to hopefully strike up some conversations with you all. I see a lot of respected builders on here and a lot of incredible builds. I am sure taking it all in will get the creative juices flowing for that day when I can get building again!
