  1. Hey Everybody, Took a job as a health aide for by buddy with ALS. Had a lot of down time and was getting sick of the tele. Worked on models back in high school (42 now) and had NO patience and a lousy temper. Older and wiser, got myself a few car kits (1/25 scale) and am having a blast! I consider myself brand new to the hobby pretending the past never happened. Putting together a B-17 Flying Fortress for my buddy (Mike) who is a veteran and loves planes. Anyhow, I soaked my pieces, light sand, prime red and was ready to build. I used a crummy paint from the hobby shop and the B-17's body is now bumpy and "veiny". This has not happened to other models I've worked on. I usually use Rostoleum paints and they work great. My question: How the heck do I get this paint off without sanding out details? Is there a liquid to soak the pieces in? Tried Simple Green to soak a few days and got no results. Spent hours painting the crew (though no one will ever see them. devil's in the details) and would hate to buy a new plane. Thank you all for any input you have. It's great to be in a forum with you all because none of my friends build and think I'm nuts. I am, but so what. By the way I am a born and bred Nutmeger Yankee here in Stafford Connecticut. It's a pleasure to meet ya'll!
