  1. Very nice car, with a very nice colour. The '57 is still my most favourite Chevy.

    If I may be so free to comment; the windscreen wipers would look better with a little bit black on the rubber part. And if you BMF them as a seperate part, they would've looked even better.

    Good call on the wiper blades. I meant to do that and forgot. I tried to BMF them separately and I couldn't get it to work so I took the easy way out.

  2. Well I finally finished one. Its just the basic Revell snap kit except for a scratch built shifter porch, boot & straight pin shifter plus the wheels from '63 'vette snap kit. Paint is Testors Model Master lacquer dark bronze metallic with their one shot clear. It was polished with Meguire's Scratch X and waxed with Meguire's NXT. Interior is Tamiya Champaign Gold with body color accents. It was a fun build and hopefully it wil break my slump. Enjoy!

  3. Painted the gun sights & the 1/4 emblems and got it cleared with the new MM lacquer. I'm not completely happy with the way the clear laid down. It seemed kind of rough. I blacked out the grill cause I had problems with the wash. Polished it quickly with Meguire's Scratch X & waxed with Meguire's NXT. I should probably go back after it again. Anyway here it is dropped down over the frame.

  4. This is my first full foil job. The paint is Testor's MM Dark Bronze Metallic over white Tamiya primer with Tamiya Mica Silver on the insert. The emblems, fender gills and door handles were removed. It still needs the gunsights painted, cleared over the foil job, the grill black washed and the dash needs detailing. The interior is the body color with Tamiya Champaign Gold and has a scratched shifter porch and shift boot with a straight pin shifter. I'm using the large Torque Thrusts from the Revell '63 'vette snap kit. Enjoy

  5. vw dave, thats exactly what i was going to add. i bought up a bunch of those hotwheels when they were around just for the skulls to use as shift knobs. it just so happens i was looking for a skull that size recently and i forgot about my stash of hotwheels ones, so i went to the lhs to see what they had. they had what were labeled "resin" skull knobs but they were obviously white metal. i bought a pack anyway and when i got home and started fiddling with one trying to clean it up, i remembered HEY i got some much better ones somewhere! when i found them sure enough: far better than the "resin" ones with a much better, more evil expression (like yours show so well) with only a bit of cleanup needed. though the plastic is kind of soft and hard to work, but not impossible.

    and the price sure was right: i think i paid 50 cents each for the hotwheels, and there are two skulls per car, whereas the aftermarket part was something like 5$ for two poorly formed skulls.

    What does this Hot Wheels Rigor Motor car look like? I'll go try to find some and it would sure be easier to find it if I know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

  6. Hit a different Hobby Lobby last night and found 2 Big Deuces on closeout at about $29. Grabbed them both, one for me to re-live my original build (~1969-70) and one for my son so he can have that experience too. I've been in three different H-L's lately and I've noticed while they are all running closeouts on the AMT kits and an occasional Revell kit, the pricing has not been consistent from store to store. Still some good buys though.

  7. Hi all!!! Another newbie here, but a long time builder. Here is my first in a series of vintage box art models. I started with a 1963 issue of the AMT '32 Victoria, and set out to build it as the custom version on the box end. It's built straight out of the box with only two aftermarket details. I used Shabo white walls, and a photo etched gage cluster. No extra wiring, just a good clean build like we wish we could have done back then!!!

    That is beautiful!!!! What paint did you use? Can you build it from the current limited "jalopy" reissue?

  8. I just picked up a pair of the most recent issue Big Deuces and I noticed that the hinges form earlier issues were there along with the separate inner door panels. It also looked like the doors were molded with partial connection to the body like you could easily cut them out and make them open. Am I interpreting this correctly? Are there any pieces missing? Has anyone opened up the doors on this kit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Is there a source for resin copies of the original tires from the Revell Big Deuce kit? I just picked up 2 of the latest issue of the kit for my son and I and I'd really like to get the older whitewalls that I seem to remember from my first late 60's issue. Just as a by the way, does anyone make pie crust slicks for these kits? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1962 Pontiac Grand Prix. 54k mile car from Montana. 389 tripower, AT and a 3.23 Safe-T-Track. Factory 2 tone, Caravan Gold & Yuma Beige. Its got a beautiful original interior. I bought this car at the POCI Nationals in 1996. The GP is a riot to drive and quicker than a lot of people would expect. ;)

    1968 Pontiac GTO. 37k mile car from Cleveland, OH. 400/350hp, close ratio 4 speed and a 3.90 Safe-T-Track. Original vinyl top and interior except for new carpet. No power steering or brakes. I bought this car in 2000 with a very bad paint job and had it painted the next winter.

    Finally 1970 Torino Cobra. Mostly original 51k mile car from Iowa pulled out of a 22 year slumber this spring. Factory 429SCJ, 4 speed and 4.30 Detroit Locker. Shaker hood, slats, 5 slot styled steel wheels, ribbon tach, PDB, but manual steering. I got this car from a relative who decided he'd never get a chance to restore this car and figured that my son & I might be able to get it done or at least back on the road. :P It had been under a cover in a garage and looks about the same as it did when he got it in 1981.

  11. Yes this will have the correct tail lights too. When we discussed doing this kit, we knew that it would be put under the microscope by those who desperatly want one of these. With the high demand there is for this subject we figured it's well worth the time to get it right. when it came to making the appropriate changes to make the coupe body I went the extra mile to measure every possible angle and dimension. I think you guys will be pleased.

    I missed the AAM LX hatch years ago and have been hoping someone would do this so I could do a replica of my '92. Thanks for your efforts. I won't miss it this time.

  12. Does anyone recollect any issues with the Trumpeter '63 Nova convertible kit? I seem to remember someone mentioning an issue with the rear of the interior not closing off the front of the trunk. Am I right? Any other issues? I found a screaming deal on this kit and the '60 Bonneville hardtop and I just couldn't help myself.

    If the Nova is really bad I could try my hand a a weathered parts car and steal the 6 cylinder engine for my AMT '63 Nova wagon.
