More or less finished the interior. Ended up using the dash out of the MCSS kit since its more detailed, but had to trim it a bit and cut off the center console storage. Used a piece of blister pack clear plastic for a gauge lens. Added seat belts and PE window and door switches. With everything in, including the floor mats, can't really see the flocking on the carpet. Also used vinyl roof material for the tonneau cover. Pieces are too narrow not to have the seem in the middle, though. On to the chassis...

Since my 1st scale replica of my Elky got warped in the sun, I've decided to build it again. My 1:1 Elky will be getting new paint sometime in the next year, so I likely won't finish its mimi-me until then. In the mean time can get the motor, chassis and interior done, and some other details. I'm using the MPC Red Light Bandit kit as the base, since its the only El Camino kit I know of with the 4 headlight front (other than a monster truck). However its not particularly detailed, and has the wrong dash. I'm pirating a lot of parts from a 86 Monte Carlo SS kit and El Camino SS kit. 1st three shots are of my interior and engine. i started with making the grille/headlights more detailed. I drilled out the grille with a pin-vise, and cut out the molded in headlights to add headlight buckets and lenses. Had to cut out the headlight area on the body too for the headlight buckets to fit. Started the motor. Using the fan assembly from the Monte Carlo kit since my car has AC. Also stole the steering wheel from the Monte kit to match mine. Hardest part is the red trim on the dash. Might need to redo that. Debated on using the dash from the Monte kit. Its more detailed, but will need to be trimmed. And no I will not be leaving the carpet semi-gloss. Have some flocking and other goodies on the way.

Latest build I finished. The Ranchero was my first attempt at doing a beater. And I've always liked dually trucks. Feel free to point out tricks to improve my builds. Thanks

I got back into model cars last year, although I had been building up a collection of kits over the last few years. Mostly into muscle cars, especially Mustangs & El Caminos, as I own 1:1 '67 Mustang 'vert & '85 El Camino. Yeah I know Ford & Chevy. The black Elky is meant to be a replica of my real one. But I left on the dash of my car during a car show and the plastic got warped. Once I finish the real one, I'll build another kit to match it. And the Miata is in there cuz I work for Mazda. Obviously I'm no where near as skilled as some of you, but I keep picking up tricks with each build

I'd really like to build a '79-83 Malibu Wagon. I've searched all over and in many forums, but doesn't seem like any are available. I've found on at Perry's Resins, but I can't get any confirmation they're still in business. I don't want to just send a check and hope for the best. I've seen a couple show up on eBay but never get to them in time. Any other sources? Thanks in advance

Hi all, my name is Mike. Just got back into building model cars recently after seeing what a fellow on the El Camino forum I'm on could do. Looking forward to chatting and getting some good tips. You'll be seeing a post from me about a certain resin body shortly.
