  1. Gray, You are on the right path. Turbocharging is far more common, but back in 1953 a twin supercharged V-12 Ferrari engine was used to power a record breaking BOAT! The engine had the 2 blowers at the back and a 4 choke Weber fed each one. Here are some pictures But even better: Here is a link to a 1/8 model of the engine. There are many detailed pics you can use as reference. 1/8 scale twin supercharged Ferrari engine Hope this helps! Thanks,
  2. Hello, After more than 3 weeks I was FINALLY able to get some workbench time this morning. I even forgot what I was working on I wet sanded with 4000 the first color coats on the Caddy and airbrushed all color coats of Corvette Anniversary red LACQUER . Still pending clear and polishing and all that but the color coats are done. Thanks,
  3. WOW Jim! Another home run as usual! Seeing these awesome cars at the Petit LeMans for 2 years, I think I'll get the kit... Thanks,
  4. Interesting. Thanks! See? I told you I was ignorant on this subject
  5. VERY nice! That decal job is flawless. And it still looks like a daunting and intimidating task. Question: I don't know much about slot cars but it seems that's a heavyweight for a racer since it's a resin body. Is that an issue? Will it race or just "cruise" ? Thanks,
  6. Most likely it is. The kit has around 40 parts, including plastic axles. I am by no means an expert but the other 308 kits I know of are the Revell Magnum which is not the best, Gunze and the Testor's which I believe is related to the Gunze and has opening doors. There is a japanese motorized kit in 1/24 as well with working headlights. Nitto also had one but in 1/28 scale. Thanks,
  7. Thanks James! That's a special and expensive kit that has hundreds of parts and....... NAHHHH..... That's the old Monogram kit. Very simple and very few parts, less that 40. But the body proportions are very nice. Here is a link to the forum post when I did it last year: Ferrari 308 and here is a link to more pictures on my personal page. My Scale Models: Ferrari 308 Thanks!
  8. Hello, Model Masters has a few military colors that may help. I used Model Master Interior Tan for this car: ..and I don't remember for sure but this one is either radome tan or a mix of radome tan and interior tan. It is a bit lighter than what you are showing, but there is also a color called Cammo Sand or something like that. Radome tan is even lighter than Interior tan but can be used to lighten up a darker shade. Good luck! Thanks,
  9. That's cool Brendan! Hope you enjoy the race!!! The car will be on display Wednesday. Take pictures! I want to see if there are more changes other than the big skull outline on the doors. By the way, I just finished posting the Speed TV GT Challenge race pics on the Fotki album. Thanks,

Cool build! Your color choice says "50s" very loud and clear! Thanks,
  11. Hello, My web domain would simply choke with the 815+ pictures I took during the Petit LeMans race weekend in Atlanta. So I opened a Fotki account and I am SLOWLY uploading pics as time permits to resize them. I guess it would take about 2 weeks to get everything up but you can check what's there. Please note: As per recommendations of pro-photographers and friends alike, you will see the pictures are lesser quality and they all have copyright scripts. BUT: If any of you are interested in any of the images for reference, please contact me for a better version. The albums are still a mess but I'll eventually arrange it better. Petit LeMans 2007 Fotki album Thanks,
  12. :D What do you mean by "other cars" Actually yes. From the 815 pictures only about 800 were from the Corvettes I have plenty of pictures of the Ferrari corral, Porsches, Lambos, Lotus, LMP1 and LMP2 racers, GT2 racers, the Speed challenge GT cars etc. I'll eventually post some them as well. Thanks,
  13. My Ferrari stable: Tamiya 360 coupe Customized RoG 612 Scag Box stock RoG 612 Monogram 308 Thanks,
  14. David, I don't need to say how great that build is. We can see that. It was great to follow the progress of it. I DO have to say, you are becoming one of my favorite model builders. Your Pro-Stock, the FXX, this one etc. You have the magic touch! Looking forward to see more of your work! Thanks,
  15. Looks great Jeff! Good job!
  16. Beware of the Nason. I posted elsewhere it turned out to be bad for models. I used it on a Revell body and it did not stick. I prepped the surface and tried several times but it flakes off every time. Thanks,
  17. Bob, It was GREAT to see you guys again! I wish we had more time but I was riding with Jose and there were other commitments. It was great to see your Porsches up close, Henry's racer, the black '55 and the other models in the show and tell. I'm already planning for next year Thanks,
  18. WOOHOOO!!!! I just can't believe how excited I still am! I'll try not to bore you but I want to share this with you all. I thought nothing could top last year's race, but this one did! Let me try to explain, but I think I may not find the right words. Just like last year, I was invited by GM as a sponsor employee (I work for Motorola) and a Corvette nut. My buddy "No Way" Jose is a C6 owner and lives only a few miles from the track. We used to be co-workers here and then he transferred to Atlanta years ago, but still with the same company. So we get to go there not only representing a sponsor, but also as Corvette owners in the Corvette corral. Jose has become a point of contact for GM racing for support with communications equipment. That's where I tag along But I pay my own expenses and take time off as vacations. Friday morning (qualification and practice day) we delivered some equipment to Mr. Frank Parker, communications director for GM racing. Of course they let us into the garage and all that. While in the Corvette C6R garage, somehow I mentioned that I took many pictures last year so I could build a scale model of the car. Mr. Parker got curious and inquired a bit more about it. We went inside their communications trailer and I showed him the ScaleCorvettes.com page with my C6R build. He was blown away by the details, especially in the engine compartment and interior! He was so impressed, he downloaded the full page in his laptop, went back to the garage and gathered everybody there to show them my model. Mechanics, managers, Pratt and Miller staff, GM staff, I mean EVERYBODY! People like Doug Fehan: Corvette Racing program manager, Gary Pratt: founder/owner/manager (BOSS) of Pratt and Miller who build the race cars, Robin Pratt: his wife and PR coordinator, Tom Wallace: Corvette CHIEF ENGINEER and many others in the team came forward to congratulate me! Something they really appreciate is the passion involved! A true race fan and Corvette maniac first, THEN, sponsor employee. They even told me that if I need any reference material for another build, to just ask. Two people told me they have built a model or two. Public Relations people took pictures of us explaining the team what was done and so on. They asked about the CF decals, engine compartment, paint etc. I was asked to email them more information and pictures of this and other models. And some still think those little stupid models are a waste of time! After that we were invited to have lunch with the team right there with the drivers! Later that day, they gave us a team's golf cart to roam around the track!!!! WOW! On race day, we were provided firesuits and went to the hot pits during the actual race during an actual pit stop! I mean, I'm still in shock! People you read about and see in books, magazines and TV, sitting with you and having a casual friendly conversation! Ron Fellows and Johnny O'Connell, my favorite drivers are so cool to talk to!!! Between the 2 days my new DSLR camera got quite a workout. At the end I took 815 pictures!!! I need to work on them now but here are some resized samples. To top it off I met on Sunday with Bob Downie and the ACME modelers gang. Henry, Wayne, Bob etc. Great as usual! So much more to tell but that's enough for now. Can somebody gently pinch me please? This is Mr. Parker showing the guys my model while they were busy getting the car ready. One of my favorite drivers of all time: Ron Fellows in one of the team's trailer. I can really and honestly say "I drove for Corvette Racing team in the Petit LeMans race" The winner's trophy... From the pits: NASA is jealous I'll post later a few samples of the 815+ pictures I took: I love my new camera. Sorry for the long post but as you can see, I'm still pumped up and the stupid grin I have will not fade for days Thanks,
  19. Getting back on track. I didn't stripped the old paint since the bodywork could have been damaged. So I carefully sanded it down as much as possible before going back to primer stage. Once the primer was done I started misting color coats. What do you know! Just 2 mist coats of Corvette Anniversary red LACQUER and it is already looking better than all the Duplicrap before. I'll do a few more wet color coats before clear. Thanks,
  20. I'd go real because of the reflections on the rear do not follow this light refraction pattern: but rather this other one where h(v) is a function of the distribution histogram: But on the other hand however, by applying the Jacobian transformation to the Gamma distribution: the result says possibly model. So bottom line: What the heck do I know? I guess real so I have a 50% chance Thanks,
  21. I've never seen that Isuzu before. It's cute in its own right. I like it maybe because somehow it reminds me of early 70's Coronas and Mazda 808. Cool build! Thanks,
  22. Gorgeous start! It looks to be on its way to become a great build. The wheels are just awesome. I'll follow up this one closely. Thanks,
  23. This is a very interesting concept. It looks natural so you are definitely doing it right. I agree with you on the rear spoiler. Personally, I wouldn't use it but that's just me. Looking forward to see it finished! Thanks,
  24. Cool! I was wondering about this project a few weeks ago. It turned out really nice. Thanks,
  25. That body is made to work with the Testor's kit. It is 1/24. Thanks,
