  1. I agree this one is one of the big holes in the hobby that no one has tried to fill.
  2. Here's the boards before the clear. Hard to see but the surface is not smooth. Also since I had to hold the board by the fin, I missed getting paint of the entire surface.

    Nas-Rat,

I like it a lot. Very nice work.
  4. Great work going on guys. I'm getting ready to start mine here very soon.
  5. Pasi, wow man. I really like that one. Very cool.
  6. Thanks very much guys. The boards were a lot of fun to do. Very easy to do but hard to make it look smooth. That's like seven coats of Future on there to get that even gloss. Magical stuff that Future.
  7. Thanks Danno. Yeah, it's a seriously long model. With the boards it just barely fits in a Revell model case.
  8. Thanks very much guys. I'm real happy with it.
  9. This was built for an online club build off. No in-progress shots were allowed to be posted anywhere so this is the first time this has gotten posted. It was a four month build off and it was way too short for me. I let some things slide I would not have ordinarily done. This the AMT '65 Continental. I utilized the custom front and rear ends and the bed part for the station wagon custom option. The rear seat has a real cloth blanket with a printed pattern. The board rack, dash and bed are real wood. The boards are resin. The paint is Model master and Testors lacquers. My paint break is not crisp and is my biggest issue. But I was in no mood to repaint a third time with time ticking away. No more build offs for me. The engine is the 312 y-block from the AMT '57 Fairlane with a parts box intake. The scoop is an AMT '69 Cougar part, with a custom insert. The surf boards are painted by dipping them into enamel paint sprayed on top of water, with several coats of Future to shine 'em up. Although the picture doesn't show it well (yay me!) one of the tail lights is broken. If anyone has an extra, please drop me a line. As usual all comments, criticisms and snappy banter are kindly welcome.
  10. See, if GM had created this, I'd be a Camaro fan. Really nice work.
  11. Interior, and undercarriage shots are very hard to come by for almost any car. Just have to be patient. Find a forum of 1:1 Corvette owners, find someone who owns one and ask politely if that person can take some reference shots for you. I have done this before with some success.
  12. I'm sure the guys on the H.A.M.B. are having a cow about this show. To say they are intollerant of "rat rods" isn't going far enough.
  13. Yep, as usual I read the instructions ...................................... after.
  14. Well, I glued the doors closed and glued the wheels straight. The tie rod was a bit too short making the wheels look wonky. So I maintained the KISS principle. I doubt seriously I'l try again, but you are correct about the less involved kit. My mistake. Thanks guys.
  15. You guys are likely right. I laid several coats on just hours apart, it's probably just that. I laid another coat on top of the finger marks and it looks fine. So I'll just wait for a few days before I do anything. It was paint brushed over enamels that were days dry. It is VERY humid. It was laid over these. And they look awesome. Will be posting the build they go with in a couple of days.
  16. Very much up my alley. Please keep it going, looks great so far.
  17. Umm.................its been like two days now and I still leaving finger print marks in the Future clear? What gives? Does this stuff ever harden up?
  18. Well the Carrera is a border to border rally race the length of Mexico, originally run from '50 to '54 but was cancelled after the death toll garnered too much bad publicity. No safety equipment back then. It was restarted in '88 and only cars of the original time period are allowed, but drivetrains break the cars into different classes. To date, the Leowy Studes are the winning-est cars on CP history. Check out the stats at the bottom of this Wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrera_Panamericana Thanks very much guys, I appreciate the ata-boys. The hood is one of my favorite parts too. It's crazy how "at home" the scope looks there.
  19. Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with it.
  20. I agree with Harry about the time frame. There was a build off on FB and wanted to see if I could do it. Turns out I couldn't and keep up my usual build quality. It's still a decent shelf model though. Thanks for comments guys.
  21. I originally started this for the annual 24hr build, something I will not attempt again. Finally finished. It is (drum roll please) .............................box stock! Holy cow, a first for me since I was 12. Duplicolor paint, leopard pattern seats and door panels, dual carbed 312 y-block. As always, any and all comments, criticisms, and clever banter kindly welcome. Not my greatest photos, I'll try to take some better ones soon.
  22. One of my favorite subjects. I've done a few. Plan to do many more.
