  1. Nope not really. Though I do occasionally take one of my photos and make it the desktop for my work pc. I get questions and comments then. "Nice GTO! I really like the ....... whoa is that a diecast or something?"
  2. Interesting. Keep it going.
  3. Sorry Roger the real car is not at my disposal sadly. Im building my replica from the photos.
  4. In the past I have utilized the kit supplied roll cages, which are often pretty terrible, adding material to it until it fit right and then based my measurements for the new one off that.
  5. Thanks. Ill look into that.
  6. Ill try to stop by.
  7. It's all part of my sinister plan to cause a global shortage of step side fenders and then corner the resin fender market. Bwahahahaha!!!
  8. Yes, I have a drivers side only from the Revell '69 Vette. And concerning the reflections - I thought so too.
  9. Update. Turns out I do have a set of valve covers that are perfect. Thanks very much Roger. I'm going to stick with the kit I have. This is a gift and I want to try to be accurate, but I'm not going to dump more money and more time than needed. Steve thanks very much for the advice. I'll throw some primer on it and see how it looks compared tot he pic. More issues. The AMT doesn't come with side mirrors. Any idea where I can get some that resemble the pic. Heading for the parts bin. Lastly he has a non-SS car, so seats, dash are all wrong. I need a head-banging-on-desk emoticon.
  10. Thanks guys. The 69 Nova came with a small block? I didn't know that. After I'm done the model will spend the rest of its life in a plastic case on a shelf. The accuracy if the chassis is not something I will sacrifice another kit for.
  11. Here's my Andy Rooney moment. Did you ever notice that none of those pro builders are active members here?
  12. Guys, I'm building my first replica in 20+ years. It will be for a family member. '70 Malibu. I have the AMT Chevelle kit. I have the right wheels. I have the right paint. I have a nice 350 for it, I just need some advice on parts. Valve covers - I need something similar Breathers - breathers look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in most kits, who makes one that's decent looking? Air cleaner - recommendations appreciated. Valve cover t-bolts? Non-SS grill and bumpers? These are my biggest hurdle. Any help would be seriously appreciated.
  13. If you have seen the work on ebay then you may have already seen that the term "pro built" is determined largely by the builders opinion of his own work.
  14. Clyde, you obviously put some time and effort into this, and it shows. Then I see the scoop on the hood and I get confused. Why not just cut the hole in the hood and build the engine properly? Please forgive me for being critical.
  15. My folks are 70 and have really embraced the internet over the years. My mom is very active on Facebook of late as she has discovered it as a fantastic way to stay in contact with her very large family. It did take some convincing though.
  16. Phil, is it just the light or did you lose the front of the door panel lines?
  17. I use rattle cans exclusively right now, but I just need a compressor to get airbrushing. I bought Donns dvd and I'm looking forward to trying it out.
  18. A great collection of WIPS, Pat. Looking forward to seeing them come to life.
  19. Good question. Working on it. Thanks Chuck.
  20. I would rather have my fingernails removed forcibly from my hands with hydraulic tools, then try to use actual leather in scale. You are absolutely correct sir, I am looking into a compressor as we speak. It's something that has got to happen to get my work to the next level.
  21. Chuck is an excellent builder, I'm sure it was very good.
  22. Some updates on possible design options. A Daytona wing? Mind you, I really can't shorten this or the trunk will be un-openable. I also have a modern charger wing and hood coming for more options. Opinions appreciated, but to be honest, I'm not really feeling it.
  23. Where can I get this color paint in a spray can? I have looked everywhere.
