  1. besides model building, I enjoy bass fishing. I have a 17 ft Bass Tracker so that takes up most of the spring and summer. I also have a 1971 Bronco that I have had 22 years. It's been in the body shop for 2 years now..... simple paint job turned into frame off restoration. It has a 414 stroker with 527hp, 35inch tires,4:10 gears, full roll cage, 3 speed trans with centerforce clutch and blowproof bellhousing. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  2. the original resin body was made by cheez-cast. AFX did one years later. I don't know if he purchased the molds from cheez-cast. The bodies were very similar. I have one of the AFX bodies. Ray Carey rtcarey11 rtcarey11@comcast.net
  3. This was built because of the real truck. It's my friend's fathers truck. He hauls from coast to coast. The model is the white-freightliner kit. 1 scale inch added to the sleeper, frame stretched 1 inch, headache rack was stratchbuilt along with the visor, wing, bumpers, dash, and the entire trailer. Alot of fun to build. This was the first truck I have built since I was a kid. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  4. got it finished in time for NNL East. Enjoy the pics. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  5. more pics. Just finished the decals. Printed off the ink jet. Not perfect; but it'll work. Still have to clear coat the cab, then I can try to finish this in time for NNL East. Ray Carey rtcarey11

  8. more pics. starting putting on Bare metal foil, slam locks and cab vents. Matt; I don't have any pics of how I built the wing. If you want one the same size I can build you one ; it's pretty easy. I might make another one and cast it. Do you think it would be something the guys would be interested in? Ray Carey rtcarey11
  9. Detail master guages with photoetch rings. The toggle switches are turned aluminum by a good friend of mine. The woodgrain on the dash is painted with Black and testors dark brown.
  10. here are some more pics. scratchbuilt wing then shot with Alclad. Dash with gauges and toggle switches. Headache rack with chain stretchers. Cab is now painted with Model Master Black Metallic. Enjoy Ray Carey rtcarey11
  11. do any of you guys have a set of KFS chain stretchers. Chris from Sourkrout is out of them and I need another 4 to finish my project for NNL East. Please let me know. Thanks Ray Carey rtcarey11
  12. here is some more pics. Headache rack , grille, and bumpers. The headache rack was made with photoetch diamond plate that I bent with my break. I then made a mold of it and cast it in resin. The outside rails were heated and formed around a jig that I made. The grille was modified by adding a small piece of sheet plastic to the top and then adding the photoetch grille material. The rear bumper is plastic stock with photoetch rings added for the lights. enjoy rtcarey11 Ray Carey
  13. I have made more progress on the trailer. Here are some more photos. Oak planking, reflective tape, real mud flaps, and detachable front section of the trailer. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  14. here are some more pics with a grand total of 960 rivets installed. Maybe I can start on something else on this truck!!!! Ray Carey rtcarey11
  15. You could go with .025 but I wouldn't go any smaller. By the time you put on a couple coats of primer and paint you will take away from the size. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  16. The rivets are from Titchy Train Group. The size is .030" ; they come in packs of 200 for $2.50. They have them in .020,.025,.030 and .035 sizes. very easy to work with; just cut off the tree and drill a #77 hole. Put a touch of glue on the stem and drop it in. Ray Carey rtcarey11
  17. Here are some more pics of the trailer and cab. I drilled 815 holes in the cab and I still have more to do. I haven't finished the rivets yet so I can finish the body work in those areas.
