Just a couple of pictures of the results with the metallic powder that I like to use over paint & Elmer's glue.

It also makes a pretty good hood insulation, although this is one of those instances where the more fibrous appearance of flocking might look better.

Steve, thanks so much for the pics.  Those are great and really spur me on to want to have carpet or sound insulation in every build!  You do nice work, sier.  Carry on.

The full front bumper looks better with the tall rear spoiler IMO. Include the high back buckets and you can make any late '70 to '73 Z28.  I know the high back bucket seats would be too much to ask for, but they should've at least included the tall rear spoiler as an option.  Cannibalizing it from a Baldwin Motion kit makes that kit unusable except for spare parts.  All BM cars had the tall rear spoiler option, I believe.

I've got a resin casted tall rear spoiler for the 70 Camaro (it was technically a 70 1/2)   Email me at harkinsp@comcast.net with your postal address if you still need one.

  3. I've been out of modeling for a pretty good while as well as being unable to work on 1:1's for a long while.   I believe that 4-link suspension with coilovers is supposed to be the hot setup for restomods and Pro Touring cars.  I hate to admit it, but I don't have a clue how these work or how to build such a setup.  Is there any help out there for me?  Maybe a tutorial somewhere or a kit with instructions.

Any help getting me started into the world of 4-link would be GREATLY appreciated.   THANKS!!!

  4. Well, I'm almost a newbie; been out of building for about 12 years and have just started back.  During that time I'm sure some of the "go to" products have changed.  I'm looking for some lightweight body filler, nothing heavy like clay, to be used very sparingly to smooth out body contours.  I want something sandable that will setup overnight.  I'd appreciate the benefit of your experience in finding such a product.  What is it and where can it be had?
    Thanks!!

Remember the original molds were hacked into a dirt track race car sometime in the '70s. Then is was "restored" in the '80s but not very well and then "restored" again in the '90s but still not back to 100%.

The tail light lenses are really bad. To the point I had considered making a set from sheet plastic but I couldn't get the tiny chrome strips in to my satisfaction.  They're not the same thickness all the way through, they get thinner at the back so they leave a noticeable gap when installed. I have an earlier rear bumper from before it was made into a race car and the lenses fit as poorly in that as they do the current part.

One thing to remember is the chrome on the lenses of a GTO pretty well hide the red of the lens.  I think this is one case where if AMT has of molded the lens in with the rest of the part  it would have been better than a separate part.

The strait red lenses were on the Tempests and lower level cars. Not really right for a GTO

We had a '64 Tempest just like this!   White, 4-dr. looks like the same aqua interior.  Brings back some memories!
