If you need the instructions for the racing options I have them on a PDF. Only problem is it's missing the last page or so describing the carbs so it mainly just shows the exhaust.
I tried to attach it to this post but it won't allow this type of file.
If you want it let me know where to send it to.

I just acquired an AMT 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. I noticed on the underside there is all kinds of information molded in. Like type of antifreeze, lubrication frequency, special coatings, etc. Is this something that was common practice around this time? I started building models a few years after this and have never seen this before on anything.

I just bought this kit used and it looks like its pretty complete but it had no instructions. I found a download on scalemates for the instructions but it looks like they aren't complete. It goes to #84 but never shows anything about the weber carbs. Does anyone have these instructions that they could scan for me the missing sections?

I just used some random electrical wire I had laying around. I don't throw anything away. It was fairly soft to work with but not sure what type of metal.

Here are the springs I made by winding wire around a screw then winding each end tighter to create a slight taper. They don't really look like the box picture but I think they are pretty close to the google picture. I may keep working to get closer to the box picture but this first try should work for now.

This is exactly what I was looking for as an answer. I couldn't of asked for more, photos of the unbuilt engine, instructions, built engines in vehicles and a lot of history on this and of turbines!

I picked up this engine up the other day with a group of old built model cars. I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the heck it is. To me it looks like some type of turbine. It appears to be about 1/25 scale and because it is chromed I thought it was probably not from a plane. I have no idea if it is anywhere near complete but because of the size I think it might make a good custom car power source.

Got a donor kit today. An exact match as far as the molding goes and a very slight difference in the sponsor decals. The decals have water damage so I may not even use them at all. The clear kit says it's the car driven midway through 1997 and the donor kit says it's the 1998 Daytona winner. The only differencr in the instructions are the color of the chassis and other color details. One has a red chassis and the other a grey one. I'll probably go with the red chassis because it should be more striking as seen through the clear body.
Now I just need to find more reference photos and the time to actually get started.

I may, but it seems to me the clear plastic is way more brittle to work with and harder to glue and the paint doesn't adhere as well as the colored styrene plastic.

These are pictures showing the side of the body. Do these look like the slab sides?

I was wanting to build this kit with just the body clear so i wondering if anybody knows if any of the other Monogram or Revell Monte Carlos would be a direct replacement for the Chassis and the rest of the kit? I know sometimes the same molds were used for other cars but I don't have any of the other kits of these brands to compare it to. I thought it would be easier to paint and modify a colored plastic rather than the clear.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did find with a google search a picture of the actual springs laying on a ruler. Now to try and get something wound that's wider in the middle and tapers at each end.

I need to make new springs but don't have anything to take measurements from.
I just bought a used built cycle but it is missing all the springs so I thought I could just take measurements from my so-called new kit. It turns out the new in an open box kit isn't so complete. It was missing the plastic bag that contained all the springs and the rubber lines.
So now I need help from other sources. Does anybody have this kit they could measure for me. It was put out by Italeri, Esci, Ertl, Aurora and probably others but they are all basicly the same kit.

Just found a great product while shopping at the second-hand shop. It's paint on rust! It's applied in two parts, first part has actual iron dust in it and part two causes it to oxidize.
I tried a couple of quick samples just to see how it is going to work. When I get the hang of it with a little practice I think this is going to be a pretty cool technique.
I don't know it this stuff is currently available but it might be worth checking into.

to show relative size of this engine here's a couple of pictures, one with a forklift and one with a person of about the same scale. 1/24 or 1/25.

Thanks for the identification, that helps a lot. Now I know what to google for the details. It's hard to believe this is 1/25. I thought it had to be at least 1/16. I found one fact: the real engine is about 9 feet long and the transmission is about 3 feet.

I would like to detail this engine for display. I got it with a bunch of car parts a while back and was wondering if anyone could tell me what company manufactured it and what scale it is. All I have are the engine and the rear end so I'm not even sure what vehicle it came out of. It appears to be 1/16 or maybe even 1/12 scale.

Great job! I've been planning on doing this same kit but have had trouble finding reference photos. Your car looks very accurate. Did you have a good source of detail photos?
