  1. Alright now i like to give update where i am till now, if already bought an airbrus compressor and choose the tamiya paint to atart with.there are lots of color ootions, and also to use clear coat if i want. So i found also a flat clear version of tamiya so will test that out in the future.what i like to get help is with the primer. Is there also an airbrush version primer of tamiya. I found one with tamiya surface primer, dont know if this can be used?after searching i found out that the levelling thinner of mr hobby is great for combo with tamiya. Im stuck to know which primer to use. Found info on youtube that mr hobby surfacer 1500 could work but dont know if you guys also know this.can the tamiya flat clear also be used on the color coat? Hows the result of this? I understand that it wont be glossy because of the flat clear of course. So basically choosing primer is my next thing. Hope somebody can give me some more info or info where to find info on this topic in this forum. Thanks
  2. Dave, rodent, vintagerpm, noblng, thanks for the advices.im really glad im going somewhere because its all new for me.im also looking for an air compressor and airbrush.i found as advice from a guy second hand and it was a sil air compressor,he told me it wasa fine and quiet compressor, but sadly he sold it cause i was late in reacting,so now i understand paint, but looking forward to buy a compressor and brush.it has to be somewhat quiet cause i live in an appartement and noise has to be low,but the silent ones are expensive, so my hunt is for a compressor, any suggestions from you guys what to look for? Im based in the netherlands. Today i found a revell omega brand for 80 euros second hand but it has a 1ltr tank, dint know if i should buy it, and saw a hbm model also, check this one https://www.hbm-machines.com/producten/airbrush/airbrush-compressoren/hbm-as-189-a-airbrush-compressor?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces-across-google&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzsz-BRCCARIsANotFgN2oxf3Seat-eDE7-FmXf4bMctrxwlfO3r47nTmKjGBKKOhjBER1hQaAiVMEALw_wcB But not sure to buy it or not. Which one should i buy?any suggestions for an compressor and brush?
  3. Dave so basically if i start with tamiya paint i cant ho wrong, but one more thing, when i applied the color, how is the clear coat, on top of it.is that also from tamiya? And is this also thinner based? Because of the smell. Im going to build a paint booth myself so thats why im asking. I found a ventilation already.
  4. Hello everybody, so im new on this site, im new in this scale modelling world.so i started to check videos on youtube from other builders and i think i hooked up to this now,so i started to do some research what i need to start, after looking i found a paasche airbrush with 0.4needle, and a sil air compressor.its real important for me that the sound of the compressor is low as possible.i didnt bought it yet, i found one set complete with brush and compressor second hand.im living in an appartement, and there are people living left right above and below me so the compressor must have low db, second is now i see everybody is using a spray booth inside, with of course a fan to suck up all the spray. My question is what kind of paint should i use, acrylic or laquer, does the smell of laquer ruin my open booth and home? I have a small area inside my home where i want to build a small spray booth but im stuck with the smell and danger of laquer, or should i build a small cabine with door in my spare bedroom with a booth inside it with a fan to suck all the air...of brushing.and about the paint part, so im stuck with primer, acrylic paint and clear coat, how does that workout?sorry if my questions are a little bit stupid but i like this hobby but dont know what to do and where to start. The paint question is killing me. One thing is for sure,i dont want to use spray cans.im stuck with primer with thinner, than acrylic paint, than clearcoat with thinner.and after that all the brands of paint like tamiya, vallejo and zero paints, i think tamiya is a good start but not sure.there are sone hobby stores in my country, the netherlands, so want to vist for buying the starting things but before that i want to have some guidance what ti buy, where to start and understand the paint part. can somebody please guide me with some info where to start. Gr roberto
