  1. Thank you Stitchdup for the input on the Profile boxes to do with social media. To do with the pathways to put collection items for sale, I wasn't necessarily expecting to list them on this forum, since I kind of assumed that would not be permitted but would like to post something requesting suggestions for smart venues for me to persue that endeavor. Once I get a better handle on how to navigate this site I will likely do that soon. If it's OK to address more than one post in the same response here, I'll also send hearty thanks to Ace-GarageGuy for your unequivocal information regarding the "offer" for software to download PDF Manuals and some insights into the ads that show up on the pages when I open them. I guess I'll just get used to them as part of the learning process here. OK...once again my thanks for the steerage addressing my limitations working my way into this much appreciated support forum. As a youngster and into my early teen years, I happily lost myself building car models in various forms and have been very much looking forward to reliving those untroubled times, having assembled a rather large collection of models of that era (1960-1966)...long waiting to reach a place in my Life that would afford sufficient unpressured time to do that. Now at 73 and dealing with a couple of forms of arthritis I'm finding it necessary to "buy" some pressure relief by putting a proportion of the collection for sale and be able to actually get the time to start unboxing one classic model or another and relive those earlier days, getting the smell of the Testor's glue and/or the smell of the fresh coat of Red Candy Apple paint. I hope that last paragraph doesn't come off as a sales pitch of any kind regarding sales of some of my collection...was just posting something of the current circumstances of my Life as relates to Model Building...and a short glimpse of how it played into my earlier years. I'm guessing that many here have similar tales to relate. Closing here with ongoing thanks. Kim
  2. Hello Russel C ! I hope I'm typing this in the right box to respond to your supportive message. I'm guessing that this will be posted on the thread begun with my call for help last night and not to you only? S'pose I'll find out where it goes once it's sent. Thanks for the feedback on the items I'd inquired about...yes, I keep getting notice that my Profile is "Only 50% complete but confused about things such as I mentioned in reply to Stitchdup like the Website URL. The "offer" to download the PDF Manual pops up each time I open the Forum pages. When I click on it, it looks like it ants me to download the software for access to manuals but I have no clue what that's to do with the Model Car Forum...maybe just a pop-up ad? Along that same line, there come ads for some site called Temu or something, with a pretty good part of the page taken up by photos of various products from that site. Any clue why that happens and/or what to do about that annoyance? Any input along those lines is much appreciated as I feel my way around this new layout. Kind Regards...K i m
  3. Greetings Stichdup! Thank you for your encouraging message and the notes on my wonder about "tags". If you wouldn't mind taking the time, could you explain what is being asked on the Profile page, which "Website URL"? I am a lifelong Leathersmith and have a small website for that commercial venture but no other site. Is that what I'm supposed to put in that box? Also on that page, there are boxes for Yahoo, Skype and Facebook. I have a Yahoo e-mail address but don't use Skype or Facebook. Do I just leave all that empty? And one other: I have come to the point (73 years) where I am looking to sell much of the vintage, unbuilt models in my collection and wondering where on the forum I would ask what would be best format to do that...Model Car conventions or eBay or something other. So I'm wanting to post questions about that on the right page on the Model Car forum but don't want to violate any of the protocol in doing so. I'll appreciate any steerage on any of that and will dig deeper into various parts of the forum and wind my way to a better navigational understanding. Many Thanks...K i m
  4. Hello to all. A longtime model enthusiast (mostly cars but airplane as well), I am looking to be part of an online forum on many aspects of the activity. All well and good but, as someone who came very late to the computer/cyber world, I am having a tough time trying to navigate on this forum and hoping to get some help finding how/where to get some help. Sounds pretty silly (and maybe pathetic) but would appreciate some steerage on the basics. After reading the Forum rules and protocol, for example, I can't see how to complete my Profile Page. Is there some way I could get on the phone with someone to present a few specific questions and get acquainted with some of the references such as "Adding tags to a post" and/or what is the often-seen invitation to "View Manual" in PDF form. I guess that in listing just a couple of questions as I did above, it'll be apparent how unfamiliar I am with certain parlance and inexperienced with online forums such as this. A frustrating shame because I would love to be able to make use of all the great material to be found there as well as excellent contact with like-minded model enthusiasts. I will very much appreciate any suggestions that would help me get used to the terminology and how to find the right pages to post certain items. I apologize for my limited abilities along these lines and grateful for any help. Kind Regards, Kim Rilleau
