MCM Regular (3/6)

  1. Finally got this one done. Overall I am pleased with the interior. Since it was my first try at a basically total scratch build, there are some dimensional issues that I will correct if I do this again (Have another resin wagon in the works). I made the door panels a little too long, dash top is a little too short, etc.) Again, mostly happy with it. I appreciate everyone following this one.
  2. Unfortunately no. I bought the steering wheel as a separate piece. You might try eBay for specific parts.
  3. Thanks for everyone’s encouragement. This was a challenge. Everything you see here was scratch built with the exception of the steering wheel (MPC ‘69 Grand Prix), GM seat belt buckles from MCG, and the GM window cranks that are new from Iceman. We are now ready for install. The rear cargo area and third row seat are in. Next will be the dashboard and door panels.
  4. Got the front and middle seat mounted to the floor and flocking laid. Door panels have been painted and detailed.
  5. Too Many Projects resin kit. No interior with this one so I am building one from scratch. Not perfect, but should look okay once in the car. I will have to do this a little different than a production kit as it will be too difficult to get a tub installed in this body. So I will have to mount the dash and door panels in first. Then install the seats and floor. Kind of pain and a bit of hope it will all fit correctly.
  6. Finished up. Got the Satin Silver from the local paint shop. A couple of decals under the hood - I made the air cleaner decal and radiator shroud decal was from Ray’s. Connected the throttle rod and heater hoses to the fire wall and ran the expansion tank line. There were some other details under the hood I was planning but frustration set in some calling it done. Scratch built the antenna and sourced the side view mirror from another Corvette kit since this one didn’t come with one. Thanks for looking!
  7. 327 fuel injected V8. The kit instructions didn’t show the injection pump so I assumed the kit didn’t include it. After scratch building my own and installing fuel lines & filter, I found that the kit DID include the pump. It was on the chrome tree. Oh well, mine was already on so I left it. Added dipstick, heater lines, throttle linkage, oil fill tube, fuel pump (Iceman) and 360 HP decals from Ray’s Kits.

  9. Hi folks. Basically an out of the box build of the recent release AMT ‘63 Corvette coupe. Added flocking for carpet, clear plastic on horn button and turn signal stalk. Gauges by Best Model Car parts.
  10. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one.
  11. OCD kicked in on the Buick. I made the little fan guard on the radiator out of sheet aluminum, painted and added a home made caution decal. Now I am done. (I think!)
  12. Calling this one done. Windshield frame was broken and misshaped after 60+ years of thrashing around in the box. Had it looking right but during assembly it went back to its warped state. Scratch built antenna added. Finished in Buick Bronze Mist with brown leather interior.

  14. Further progress (slowly). Dash done and installed. Scratch built the shift lever and turn signal stalks, and park brake pedal. Air cleaner with homemade decals installed along with engine & auto trans dipsticks and trans cooler line done. Somehow I misplaced the fan but found one from a ‘62 kit on eBay so waiting for that to arrive so I can’t get the engine in the chassis. Finished the paint on the chassis and added the park brake cables.
  15. Making progress on this one. Scratch built P/S pump, belts and hoses on. Interior is getting there. Scratch built the arm rests, door release handles and vent window cranks. Carpeting in down. Just need to finish the dash and add the door locks.
