  1. After a fine polish on the final finish paint, clear coat with a light to medium coat of Tamiya clear, let dry/cure 3 days, apply decals, let dry 2 days, then a light coat of Future (I brush it on). The only finish paints that I use are Tamiya and occasionally Krylon Colormaxx and the Tamiya clear is good over both, but rattle can spray clears are too risky to use over decals.
  2. For blocks, heads etc. - Shapeways…but expensive. For injectors, although a one piece assembly, 3DScaleParts on EBay…expensive, but sturdy, detailed and very authentic.
  3. Built model cars when I was 10 to about 15 years old, from about 1963 to 1969, like many young men back then. Got back into building about 3-4 years ago after I learned that my aging uncle had NO pictures of the 5 cars that he drag raced in the 1964-1976 years. I decided to build replicas based on my and his memory of them, then I’d send him pics and post them on his Facebook page. He lived (and still lives in) Chattanooga, TN and raced primarily at the Brainerd Optimist track in Brainerd, GA The modern paints, parts and tools available now are just amazing, as well as many of the old kits being retooled. I’ll start posting pics in the forum for completed cars and also 2 in the WIP forum. Looking forward to your advice and suggestions!
